Course Description:

Music is one of the lessons that provide opportunities for students to explore and develop their talents and their creativity in the practice and
theory aspects with respect, discipline, responsibility, caring, curious, confident, polite and interactive as well as factual knowledge and
understanding technology.

General Instructional Objectives:
The detailed learning goals are given at each of the session. In general, by the end of this course you should be able to
1. Name the pitches used in music
2. Recognize the sounds with a regular and irregular frequency
3. Recognize and identify the tone color in the music and the environment
4. Understand the elements of music and how they are used
5. Use the elements of music to create a composition
6. Recognize and write various musical symbols, i.e. clef signs, notation, dynamics, meter signatures, rhythms, etc.
7. Recite and analyze major and minor keys and key signatures
8. Perform a given piece of music at a beginning level

Teaching Learning Processes:


Lecturer : Explaining, discussing, giving exercises, giving assignments
Students : Listening, taking notes, discussions, practice, performance
Pre-requisite Courses : -

Class Policy:
1. Attendance is counted starting from the first day of class.
2. A minimum of 90% of attendance is required. Excessive unexcused absences will harm your final grade. If a student misses a class for any
reasons, it is her/his responsibility to find out what was covered in that class.
3. If a student comes into class 5 minutes after the start of the class, s/he will be counted ‘absent’.
4. Students should take part actively in the F2F and online discussions , if any.
5. No request for a postponed test will be allowed unless the student is hospitalized and can submit an approved medical certificate.
6. Plagiarism is illegal. Any plagiarized papers/tests are considered ‘fail’.
7. Mobile phones should be turned off at all times during class.
8. All students should participate actively in class.
