Mission of Sanchi: To carry out activities for promoting production, procurement,


processing, manufacturing and marketing of milk and milk products for socio-economic
development of the farming community. Development and expansion of such other
allied activities as may be conducive for the promotion of the dairy industry,
improvement and protection of milk animals and economic betterment of those engaged
in milk production.

Introduction to Sanchi: Sanchi stores have their monopoly all over Madhya Pradesh.
They sell milk, toned and with cream, along with other dairy products like cottage
cheese, curd, shreekhand, Milk, and sachets of cold water The store is very small and
there's no place for you to sit and eat, but that won't be a regret. Everything is take-
away.

The industrial visit started with 40 minutes of presentation by Mr. Ashutosh Sir who
briefed about the plant, Sanchi’s profile, achievements etc. It was and interactive
session where we asked how Sanchi helps in rural development of the economy,
strategic moves etc. The second stage was an industry look around in which we visited
various locations of the plant.
Organization: Three Tier Structure of Dairy Cooperatives
Products: 1. Milk: Gold, Shakti, Tazaa, Smart and Cow’s Milk
2. Ghee
3. Pede and Rasgulla
4. Rabdi and Shreekhand
5. Kaju Katli
6. Butter
7. Icecream and Flavoured milk etc.
Activities:
Field operation: The Field Operation activities begin with organization of Dairy
Cooperative Societies in the rural areas and end with milk transportation to the dairy
dock.
Plant operation: The plant operation activities begin with receipt of milk at the Chilling
Centre / Dairy Dock and end with dispatch of milk & milk products for distribution.
Marketing: Marketing of different types of milk in different pack sizes under the brand
name "Sanchi". Marketing of Indigenous fresh milk products under the brand name
2other cooperative Milk Unions under the State Milk Grid (SMG) and to other
Cooperative Organizations / Milk Unions outside the state under the National Milk Grid
(NMG). Marketing of Ghee, Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) and Table Butter under the
brand name "Sneha" by MPCDF (products manufactured by the Milk Unions) outside
the state. Consumer Awareness about Pasteurization of milk, "Quality" and "Hygiene"
aspects of "Sanchi" milk and milk products. Distribution System for liquid milk and milk
products in the towns. Tapping new areas and townships for sales coverage.Organizing
campaigns against adulterated milk.
Sir took us to various parts of the plant for showing manufacturing of different products
in the plant. The manufacturing process of Paneer, Ghee, Pasteurizing of milk,
Flavoured milk and other dairy products. They briefly explained about the whole process
starting form collection of milk from various rural parts to dispatching of Saanchi milk
and other dairy products to different Saanchi points.

Recommendations Sanchi must: 1. Resegment the whole market and design a new
customized promotion plans for each product category.

2. Must treat each product category as a separate SBU.

3. Come up with customer incentives that will push the products into target customers.

4. Have two-three flagship product categories duly positioned.
