Some of the reasons why students perceive stress are time pressure and the need to perform well in

the exams (Erkutlu & Chafra, 2006). Other reasons why stress can occur are the fear of academic
failure (Kolko, 1980) too many assignments or the competitions with other students (Fairbrother &
Warn 2003).

Bennett (2003) reports a similar finding in his study and points out that stress is significantly
correlated with poor academic performance.

Macalino et. al (2005), the Philippine Journal of Education (2005) stated that quality classroom
instruction largely depends on quality teachers, schools and learners. The bulk of accountability
however lies to teachers being indispensable character in the teaching learning process.

well. ?e claims that students experience stress since some are trying to cope up with the
demands of adapting to a new living environment, new peers, academic pressure, and sexual
concerns.

Santos, A.G (2018), stress is inevitable in any condition and situation. Even a person who is
wealthy, powerful, attractive, or happy experience stress. However stress may take differently
depending on the situation and how one perceives stress.

Joeie, C. (2017), the academic stress that students are experiencing is probably part of the birth pains
of the senior high program. It should be noted, however, that if a student is having difficulty in coping
with academic stress, then there might be serious repercussions such as psycho-social and emotional
health consequences.

Salvacion (2004), who studied the stress profile of students in the college of Dentistry of the
University of the Philippines, Manila. Academic stressor like examinations and grades, full loaded
days, difficulty in completing clinical requirements, and fear of getting delayed topped the
identified stressors.

Academic stress is the feeling of anxiety or apprehension over one’s performance in the academic
activities. Students were considered to be the future pillars who take the responsibilities to take our
country to the next phase they shouldbe in better way. To know this, the investigator decided to
analysis the academicstress among senior high school students (Prabu, 2015).
