THESIS ABSTRACT

Acknowledging the positive and negative effects of adoption, the researchers were
encouraged to conduct an intensive study employing a qualitative-phenomenological research
design on five (5) adopted children ages 12 to 19 years old that were currently enrolled in either
public or private schools in different localities so as to understand their perspectives about their
lived experiences being adopted children. In order to address the main problem, the researchers
focused on discovering what have the participants experienced in being adopted children and
how have they experienced the difficulties of being adopted children.
The findings of the study showed that the participants are solely experiencing perks over
pains as it was revealed that they are being sufficed by their foster family with benefits like
assistance, support, provision, guidance, love and affection. These various benefits allowed them
to grow as an individual and also gave them the reason to be resilient despite the struggles and
challenges linked with their identity. In essence, foster families indeed play vital roles in the
lives of every adopted child.
