University Students and the Attending Classes

People should go to school when they are children. After high school graduation,

some people can continue their education by studying at Colleges or Universities. In

Colleges or Universities, some professors, teachers, and instructors request the students

to attend classes all the class-time. However, some other those say that the students

cannot attend the classes frequently, and they can be in the classes some days and do

their studying work outside the classes in the other days. I believe that in the Colleges or

Universities, attending classes should be an option because the reasons such as the on

line classes and the freedom of education.

First, some people claim that students have to be in classes, so the teachers can

rate the student easier. Moreover, the teachers can give an extra score for the students

who are studious. However, with the support from the new technology, there are the on

line classes, and students do not have to be in classes frequently. Moreover, attending

classes every time does not means the students are good in study. To success in studying,

students have to show that they get a lot of new useful knowledge. It is specified by their

final examination. In addition, the students can arrange their hours to balance between

study and something like their jobs. For the classes that are not on line classes, students

can keep the track of classes by using the Moodle, forum, and email to update the new

teachers’ instructions. Therefore, students will not lose their homework.

In fact, the request that students have to attend the classes is not more important than how

the teachers teach and how the students study.

Second, some people claim that students have to be in classes, so the teachers can

rate and help the students who study hard. The teacher can give extra score for the

students who attend the classes all the time. However, there will be the obstacles to the

students who do not have advantage conditions to be in the classes. The education is free

to everyone who wants to study. However, the poverty students get more difficulty than

the rich students. First of all, they have to work to make a living. Therefore, giving them

an option, not to be in classes every time, will help them more opportunities to study. Of

course, those students have to study hard because they do not get the teachers’

instructions directly. However, for their studying needs, the teachers should not inhibit

them to take the classes. There are many ways to keep the contacting between teachers

and students so that the teachers can finish the classes successfully, and students can pass

the classes. For example, in my College, San Jose City College, students can use the

Moodle in the College’s web site to keep the track of the classes. Students can meet

teachers or tutors to get help their problems at the flexible hours. Moreover, the time of

the lab-classes is flexible, so students can study in the lab room or study in their houses

or somewhere outside their classes. The most important thing is that the students have to

be able to control themselves. It means that they have to spend their hours for their

education. The option, not attending classes, will be useful, advantage, and suitable for

those students who like and want to study to become more useful people for the

community and country.

In conclusion, in Colleges or Universities students can take the on line classes or

regular classes (included attending classes). I believe that the on line classes give more

advantage for students who do not have suitable conditions to be in classes all the time.

The regular classes are useful and effective because the teachers teach students directly.

However, in my opinion, the teachers should not request that all students have to attend

the classes so that studious students and selves-study students can take the classes.
