My Writing Experience

My Writing Experience
I started to write when I enter secondary school; I think it was around form one
because during primary school, most of the times we are only taught about sentence
structure and vocabulary, none of essay writing. The only essay writing taught in primary
school are of my first language; Malay. During my first English writing lesson I was
asked to write 250 words about myself. A task by which I find easy for I don’t really have
to think much about it. It ‘was’ anyway about myself. But that was just the prologue, we
are given a whole lot of what so called ‘creative writing’, to familiarize us with writing in
another language other than Malay. After that we are taught how to write something
formal such as writing a news article or a formal letter. For formal writing, we are first
given the base line of the format used, and then, do we proceed with the writing. Other
than that, we are also given what called ‘guided writing’ where we are asked to write
based on a picture.
I’m not really sure of which kind of writing is emphasized but I think it is formal
writing. It was all over the tests and examination papers. But the kind of writing that I
like the most would of course be creative writing. I like it when the beginning part of the
essay is given and I was to write the continuance of it or maybe the ending is given and I
was to write something that contribute to the ending. It is really fun when you can have
your imaginations run wild and I guess that is all about my writing experience.
