Jaime Garzón
A leader of his people
Jaime Garzon was a lawyer, pedagogue,
humorist, activist, actor, broadcaster, journalist
and Colombian peace mediator.

He was the first recognized character and the


pioneer of political humor in Colombian
television.

Jaime was a man who stood out for his important


influence on public opinion, for his collaboration
in humanitarian tasks to free hostages, and for
his desire to be a third party to mediate peace
processes with the ELN and the FARC.
When was born?
Jaime was born on October 24
1960, in Bogota.
His father, Felix Maria Garzon and his
Daisy Forero mother.
Why was he famous?
Jaime Garzon was a reference leader was a true political leader, gifted
with attitudes and values that have Forged since childhood. Was a leader that has been

Family life
Jaime fell madly in love with a woman who works in the Police. His stable partner was
Gloria Hernandez, a divorced woman with two children that he wanted as if they were
his own. She accompanied him until the day of his death.
Jaime Garzón: Major of Sumapaz
In 1988 he became major of Sumapaz. During the year that Garzón was mayor of the
town, he built a health center, a better school and pavement on the only street in the
town. In 1989 Volmar Pérez Ortiz signed his dismissal.

Between 1990 and 1994, Garzón worked at the Casa de Nariño, during the presidency
of César Gaviria, as coordinator of the translations of the new 1991 Constitution into
indigenous languages.
Trajectory in the media
On December 5 he was interviewed by a journalist of the Seven of the News, which would be
his first appearance on television.

While Garzón worked at Nariño's house, he began his foray into the media that would make
