Educators continuously look for ways to enhance their

teaching strategies and skills. Students and parents


need access to qualified instructors in many different
subject areas.

The ACT® Certified Educator™ program is an innovative


new credentialing program designed to satisfy each of
these needs and, ultimately, help students learn and
succeed.

ACT Certified Educator subject courses include English,


reading, writing, math, and science. An additional
module, ACT Certified Educator Basics, covers
fundamental aspects of the ACT® test and resources
available to students.

ACT Certified Educator Process


Application and Eligibility
Becoming an ACT Certified Educator is a simple, three-
step process. First, candidates submit an application

during registration that is subject to ACT review.

Next, candidates participate in an on-site training

program.

Finally, candidates are required to successfully complete


a post-training assessment related to the specific
training program.
*To be eligible for certification, applicants are required to complete the ACT Certified Educator

Basics course and pass qualification and certification assessments in the corresponding subject
area.
Certification Courses
Certification requires candidates to attend training courses. The ACT Certified Educator Basics, ACT
Certified Educator Writing, and ACT Certified Educator Science courses are one day in length, and
the other ACT subject-specific courses include two days of training.

ACT Certified Educator Basics: This course includes activities to enhance educators’ knowledge
of fundamental aspects of the ACT test and the resources available to students. Training activities
promote the development and use of learner-centered skills and the standards of professionalism
required of ACT Certified Educators. Attendees are required to complete the ACT Certified
Educator Basics course to receive certification of any subject-specific certifications they wish
to obtain.

Subject-specific programs: These courses


include instruction and training activities to ACT Certified Educator Courses
enhance educators’ ability to teach students
