ANSWER: Lulu's reaction when she found out about the operation is, of course, shocked and
scared to the point that she started seeking what attributes of her is needed to be protected. Her
reaction is quite normal because she is just a little girl who is fragile and innocent enough not to
handle an operation like this.
ANSWER: No, Lulu’s parents did not make a mistake in operating her finger because they just
did it for her sake and through this operation, she can now experience to live a normal life which
is away from judgemental people. Yet, the only mistake that they made is that they did not ask for
Lulu's approval if she willing to undergo an operation. Her parents must wait for her to grow up
so that she is now matured enough to understand her situation.
ANSWER: The narrator afraid that people could change the part of her body without her
knowledge and consent. She is scared that the right she has as a human will vanish and take away
from her and they will use it control her.
4. WHY DID THE NARRATOR DISLIKE THE WAY HER MOTHER DESCRIBED
REPRODUCTION?
ANSWER: The narrator did not like the way her mother described reproduction because for her
it sounded like she would not exist in this world without her parents. Her mother made her feel
like a useless numb person who cannot live and defend herself without her parents by her side. Her
mother did not trust her capabilities.
ANSWER: When the narrator found out that she has an extra finger, she decided to be true to
herself by weighing the situation whether she will accept herself or undertaking an operation
if only her parents asked about it. She wanted to take time to fit out if her parent's decision is
fined with her.
7. HAVE YOU EVER FELT THE SAME WAY? WHY OR WHY NOT?
ANSWER: Yes, I have this experience having difficulties being someone that I am not used to
be. So, I want to be true to myself, who is free from anything. I want to show to the world
whom I am not minding what others see me because I believe in the saying that “Before you
accept and love others, you must learn how to accept and love yourself”.
ANSWER: No, The narrator is not selfish. She just wanted to be accepted by who she is and
wanted to experience a normal life. She wanted to be true to herself who value and control her
own body.
ANSWER: It is an Asian value because in the story the narrator gave importance and care on
her right and body which Asian is known to be. Asian people are more conscious of their body,
value and tradition compare to the American.
ANSWER: Yes, childhood revelation has a lasting impact on one's life because it is the one
that will shape every individual to become who they are in the present and future of their lives.
The past revelation or experienced is the one who can be influenced and guide us soon.
1. CAN YOU RELATE TO THE NARRATOR? WHY OR WHY NOT?
ANSWER: Yes, As of now this is the common issue that young people face and
deal with, and I am one of those teenager who is more concious about how are
they look like.
