A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is designed to

 enhance their teaching and other skills

 make them aware about modern teaching tools and methodologies
 Acquire knowledge about current technological developments in relevant fields.

 achieve competitive teaching and learning environment and
 channelize development with respect to academic qualifications and personal matters

Through each SDP, a maximum of 50 faculty members of AICTE approved Institutes are trained for a duration of a
maximum of 2 weeks at a time.

Abstract
The growth in RF and wireless/mobile computing devices that operate at microwave frequencies has resulted in
explosive demand for integrated circuits capable of operating at such frequencies in order to accomplish functions

like frequency division, phase shifting, attenuation, and isolators and circulators for antennas. Recognizing the
importance of imitation and visualization in emphasizing physical understanding, especially in view of the empiric
nature of microwave and RF design, we decide to use electromagnetic simulation software as a tool in teaching
microwave engineering. IE3D is an integrated full-wave electromagnetic simulation and optimization package for
the analysis and design of 3-D microstrip antennas, microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and high-
speed printed circuit board.
Vital role of training in this program are,

 the design of MMICs, RFICs, LTCC circuits, microwave/millimeter-wave circuits,

 IC interconnects and packages, HTS circuits, patch antennas, wire antennas, and other RF/wireless
antennas.
IE3D is the accurate, efficient and economical tool, for antenna designer.

Objective
To design and analysis the various types of Micro strip components and antennas using IE3D, which includes the,
 Integrated circuit design—simulate signal integrity, power integrity, and packaging
 RF/Microwave circuits — simulate passive components, active components, LTCC circuits, and even high-
temperature superconducting circuits
 Antennas — simulate a number of antenna geometries including patch, slot, wire, inverted-F, dielectric
resonators, and even RFID tags and optical frequency antenna

Project Impact - Expected outcome

The participants will understand the following through this program

1. Learn to design and analyze the Microwave Equipment.
2. Study of various types of antennas.
3. Will motivate them to engage in doing research work in this area.
4. Practical demonstration can be done by the experts will help the candidates to know the hands on
training in the design of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), radio-frequency integrated
circuits (RFICs), low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) circuits, high-temperature superconducting (HTS)
circuits, radio-frequency identification (RFID) antennas, patch antennas, slot antennas, wire antennas, and
most other RF and wireless antennas.
