Troubleshooting Guideline

For Cases of Freezing TCMS Client

Background: It has been found that the latest update on the Windows 10 build (version 17134)
has known issues and conflict Java affecting the processing of our TCMS Client application which
causes the freezing of the login page of the application.
This is document serves as a guide on how to address the issue on the TCMS Client wherein the
login panel refuses to minimize after a successful login by the user. This issue mainly caused by
the update package on Windows 10 version 17134. The package contains also an update on the
display adapters specifically on the discrete graphics (ex. NVIDIA, AMD/ATI) that causes the
constraints on the display of Java applications.

Troubleshooting Procedures
1. Check if the affected unit has 2 display drivers. Usually the setup will be One (1) Onboard
driver (ex. Intel Integrated Graphics) and One (1) Discrete Graphics (ex. NVIDIA,
AMD/ATI). To do that open the Device Manager by searching it on the start menu, click
the drop-down button beside the Display Adapter and then check on how many display
adapters are present.

1.1. If the unit does have 2 display drivers:

1.1.1. Search for the javaw.exe file, it is usually found in this directory C:\Program
Files\Java\jre(version #)\bin;
1.1.2. Right click on the file to open its context menu. Hover down to “Run with
graphics processor”;
1.1.3. Then click on the Integrated Graphics.
Note: Usually if you have 2 display drivers installed, the onboard graphics is the one
set to run java on default. This is if in case the default graphics processor
running the Java has been change.

1.2. If the unit has only the discrete graphics.

1.2.1. Search for the Java installation directory, usually it’s in C:\Program
Files\Java\jre(version #)\bin. Scroll down until you find the javaw.exe;
1.2.2. Right click the on the application, click on the properties then click on the
Compatibility tab;
1.2.3. Tick on the “Disable full screen optimizations” checkbox then apply the
settings.

2. You may check again the TCMS Client if the issue persist otherwise you may email us at
