University Partnership With Open Cosmos PDF
Open Cosmos provides a set of enabling tools and services to
universities for free, supporting the development of all kind of space
technologies and applications from concept to design and orbit readiness.
● Why?
In line with Open Cosmos’ ongoing efforts to democratise access to
space and to enable using space as a tool, we are supporting and
empowering the student community at University level with tools to
develop space technologies and applications.
● What?
○ beeApp:
Learn how to design a space mission using our Mission and System
Design tool including ground segment and launch opportunities.
○ beeKit:
Use the satellite qualification platform to develop and integrate all kind of
space technologies with real space interfaces and run functional tests to
fully qualify payloads and subsystems to reach flight readiness.
About Open Cosmos
Open Cosmos provides simple and affordable access to space. We enable fast
and cost-effective payload development and in orbit deployment allowing
universities, research institutions and organizations from across industries to
use space technologies as a tool, overcoming three major space access barriers:
Technology Paperwork Cost
Background
Open Cosmos designed and
delivered its first nanosatellite
(qb01) in 6 months with a launch
granted by the European
Commission. The current commercial
pipeline contains multiple customers
involving an entire nanosatellite
mission for the European Space
Agency (ESA), in-orbit demonstrators
and constellations from both private
and public commercial customers.
Open Cosmos raised $7 million in a series A funding round as part of its mission
to make satellites more affordable and more accessible to everyone. It is based
in Harwell Campus in the UK and is looking to manufacture 30 satellites a year.
Team
Open Cosmos employs 40+
people of more than 10
nationalities and is currently
looking to attract more talent
to enable simple and
affordable access to space.
Valuable partnerships
We teamed up with a wide variety of agencies, government institutions and
innovative companies to add exceptional value and expertise in our services:
Open Cosmos and ESA launched Call To Orbit, a competition that allows a
diverse range of organizations to get their technologies and service-oriented
applications ready for orbit. Winners of the competition will be awarded access
to Open Cosmos’ orbit readiness program for free, alongside support from ESA,
allowing them to go from concept to orbit readiness in three months using Open
Cosmos’ beeInnovative and b eeReady services.
