Proposal for a Contracts Drafting Bootcamp

Need for practical training

An Ounce of Action Is Worth a Ton of Theory, said Ralph Waldo Emerson.

However, our law institutes have limited time to train students practically and professionally
with never-ending teaching, semester exams schedule, moot courts and other engagements.

Contract drafting / reviewing skill is one of the most important traits of any lawyer and can
hardly be overemphasized – be it practicing in a court, working with a law firm or a
company. However, most of the books available in market on the subject throw light on
provisions of Contract law and not on practical skills. Reading draft contracts or even books
on contract drafting too has its own limitations.

Even during internships, students hardly get work beyond proof-reading of contracts. In a law
firm or a corporate office, senior professionals do not have time to train and teach new kids
on the block. Once hired, no one is given any concessions for not knowing contract drafting
beforehand, despite knowing that most students are not taught this in law school.

As a result, most law students and young lawyers learn by trial and error. Many prevalent
practices are outdated, superfluous, or even counter-productive.

As a result, to plug the gap between academic knowledge and practical exposure, educational
institutions are enhancing their engagement with professionals to impart practical knowledge
to their students to make them job ready and infuse confidence in them.

The proposed course

Corp Comm Legal is pleased to offer an intense and interesting 2-day Bootcamp / workshop
on “Excellence in Drafting Commercial Contracts” to impart the next level of practical
training, which will be led by Mr. Bhumesh Verma, the Managing Partner.

A joint certificate will be awarded by Corp Comm Legal and the institution on successful
completion of the 2 days bootcamp.
