Biography

Jimbo Ningombam (21st June


1986) is a sound designer, audio
engeneer, an experimental Pianist,
composer and singer from Imphal.

Born to an amateur musician, he


received his first lesson on Indian
percussions from his father at his
tender age.

Also, he started learning keyboards, harmonium, guitar and other instruments


during his high school time and composing music. Later he got trained in Western
Classical Music at Delhi School of Music, New Delhi.

In a span of 10 years, he has devoured with different bands and musicians, with
numbers of different genres as a pianist /Bassist performances both solo and non
solo in and outside Delhi.

Maalem Imagi Pung Esei (20thth February 2011)
was a contemporary Meitei folk an fusion
concert held at BOAT, Imphal. This was the first
time when the Indian classical music, jazz and
the sangkritan met. Where the youngest among
those artists, Jimbo had to accompany on bass
guitar/piano with the well-known sarangi
maestro Ustad Kamal Sabri, Vikram on jazz-
guitar.

Later this event lead the team to record few tracks called “Loktak Lake” another one
called “Hope tribute to Tihar inmates” with Times Music in the album, Sarangi
Redefined.

SpiceRoute, was another Indian classical based


experimental, band, with energetic tricky beats,
rhythm and jazz. Strongly based on ragas with
groovy tracks encourage youth to swing along with
the music. Another event to mention was at Select
Citywalk, Saket on World Music Day 2014, with

“Imphal Talkies and the Howlers” is a folk-rock band


from Imphal. The band is known for singing 'protest' songs and
voicing their opinion through their songs against unfair politics,
insurgency, human rights issues, and racial attacks in Manipur
and across the North-East States of India.
Also chosen as one of the 33 bands from 33 countries for the
music album compilation entitled Album of the
Revolution released in UK by "Un-convention In Place of War
Project". Jimbo works behind scene with the band in other post-
productions and as session musician. “Eegi nong” and “Eise eini
kaorure” are few among his works in the team.

At present, he works with different filmmakers, independent artists, bands, musical


groups as a sound designer, composer, singer, session musician, including field
recordings and background scores (commercial and non-commercial) in Imphal.

My Name is Eooow (2016), a documentary film, a production of CCRT and from the
renowned National Awardee, director, producer, writer and cinematographer Oinam
Doren. In this film he took the role in sound designing, audio mixing and mastering.
Also he is assisting few upcoming films under Oinam Doren as sound designer and
audio solutions.
In another recent short film about Mary Kom (five times world boxing champion)
and her boxing academy he gave the background tracks and the entire audio works
in.

Among the upcoming films “Inaakta Leiringei” a romantic comedy and mellow-
drama is the first commercial movie in his career. Working on background score,
Foley and other songs.
Lastly, “Lakkhini Nongmadi…” the another film, yet to complete. Which is inspired by
true events, is set in 1988, in a remote village situated in Manipur.
