Quantity estimation of materials is essentially required in any construction works and
quantity of materials depend on the mix proportions of the concrete.
Procedure
Clean the platform which is to be used for mixing concrete.
Considering 1:2:4 proportions of constituents, prepare the concrete mix.
Take 80% of 300mm water, considering 0.8 water to cement ratio.
To add water make a depression in the middle of the mix and pour water gradually
into ½ to ¾ of total quantity and mix it with shovel.
Take a cylindrical container of 6 inches diameter and fill it with 1/3 of volume of
concrete mix and give 25 uniform strokes.
Repeat previous step twice.
Do further compaction of concrete mix using vibrating table and measure the wet
volume of the specimen.
After 24 hours de-mould the specimen.
