ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

 Checking forconsistency with the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)


 Checking the Welders Qualification and that range of qualification shown matches the
application of WPS being used.
 Ensuring the Approved WPS are available/posted at the site during welding.
 Complying with the ITP (Inspection Test Plan) for every project.
 To carry out Fit up Inspection like Checking Root gap, Mismatch, Internal & External
Alignment, Hi-Lo & Tack Welds before Welding.
 Ensuring all the welding equipment and other measuring devices are calibrated.
 Reviewing filler wires and electrodes of welding procedure specification.
 Checking and confirming the required Preheat Temperature has achieved for the joints
before starting welding.
 Monitoring and Controlling Welders Weekly Repair Rate as per Saudi Aramco
Engineering Standards.
 Ensuring that there is no Cross-contamination between Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel
Pipes/Supports.
 Ensuring that Wind shields or tents are being used when the wind is strong enough to
affect arc stability or shielding gas
 Checking for post visual inspection for arc strikes, undercuts, gouges & any other
surface imperfections that shall be removed by grinding. And request for PT or MT after
the imperfections are removed.
 Inspection of Aluminum bus tubes welding and structural welding works.
 Updating As-built of weld map and weld summary reports to reflect the status of the new
or modified weld.
 Inspection of welding in Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Alloy Steel, Inconel and Copper
Nickel materials.
 Monitoring and Controlling Welders Weekly Repair Rate as per Saudi Aramco
Engineering Standards.
 Review calibration of welding machines, baking and holding ovens quivers and
inspection tools.
 Inspection of welding in Carbon Steel and Alloy Steel material in conformance with the
WPS.
 Inspecting Consumables Receiving Inspection according to ASME section II-C, their
package, handling and storage and reviewing batch test results.
 Responsible for the inspection of Pre- and Post-welding.
 Resolving quality problems in the light of codes
 Monitoring Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) after welding
 Verification of punch list after rectification.
 Verifying the Corrective Action has been performed for closing the NCR (Non
Conformance Report)
 Reviewing “Issued for Construction” Drawings.
 Review final documentation before submission to client.
 Inspection of raw material, welding consumables against Mill Test Certificate prior to
fabrication.
 Checking the Welders Qualification and that range of qualification shown matches the
application of WPS being used.
 Check & ensure materials are used as in compliance standard specification such as
Pipes Fittings, Valves, Nozzles, Etc.
 Inspection of Piping fabrication and erection according to client’s specification and Code
B31.1, B31.3.
 Maintain and update calibration details for Welding machines, Portable ovens, Holding
Ovens & Baking Ovens.
 Verify that the correct filler wire is used for the relevant material prior to welding.
 Responsible for the weld markings.
 Preheating and inter-pass temperature control etc.

 Checking and monitoring the associated parameters (current, voltage, travel speed and
heat input) as per applicable WPS.
 Preheating and inter-pass temperature control etc.
 Witness all NDT (PT, RT, MT, and UT).
 Witness of Welder Qualification Test (WQT) according to ASME IX.
 Review calibration of welding machines, baking and holding ovens quivers and
inspection tools.
