A horizontal return tubular boiler with a heating surface of 2100 m2 generates steam at the rate of 4.5
kg/s. Feedwater enters at 5.5 MPa, 125 C and steam leaves at 5.5 MPa, 360 C. Calculate for the percent
rating developed if coal with a heating value of 22,000 kJ/kg is burned at the rate of 8.5 Mtons/hr.

A straight-tube boiler with an effective heating surface of 1500 m2 produces steam at the rate of 4.0
Mtons/hr. Feedwater enters at 96 C and steam leaves at 5 MPa, 330 C. If bunker fuel with heating value
of 42,600 kJ/kg is consumed at the rate of 1720 kg/hr, determine the equivalent specific evaporation.

A steam boiler on test generates 401,430 kgs of steam in a 5 hour period. The averagesteam pressure
2750 kPa and 370 C. Water is fed to the boiler at 98 C. If fuel coal has been used having a calorific value
of 8000 kcal/kg, boiler efficiency of 85%, find the developed boiler hp.

A water tube boiler has a heating surface area of 500 m2. For a developed boiler hp of 825. Determine
the percent rating of the boiler.

The equivalent evaporation of a boiler, from and at 100 C is 15 kg steam per kg fuel and the calorific
value of the fuel burned is 41.9 MJ/kg. What is the boiler efficiency?
