Our Mission: to put Christian principles into practice through programs that

build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

“The YMCA is like a second home to

me,” says Ed Elum, member of the
Massillon Family YMCA for over 60
years. “I’ve done a large part of my
life within these walls.” Ed has grown
up in the YMCA with swim lessons,
sports, physical fitness, and even
coaching. Now, Ed visits the Y nearly
every morning to swim before going
to work at the Massillon Municipal
Court. Describing his time in the pool
as a way to think through everything,
he manages to stay in great mental
and physical shape, using swimming
as his way to relieve stress and
negativity. Read more...

Meet Jennifer Porter, our newest Yoga Specialist!

"I grew up in Germany where my father was stationed with the Air Force. I
returned to the States for college in Texas where I studied journalism and
eventually worked for newspapers all over the state. My Ohio native husband
brought me and our dogs to the beautiful area. High intensity workouts kept
me sane through a demanding work schedule in my 30s and early 40s. But
yoga, with its focus on attention, alignment, breath and sustainable movement
for life, beckoned. For me, yoga has been an embodiment of physical,
emotional, and spiritual recovery. That's why, in my mind, one can't be 'good'
at it; we're either doing yoga or we're not. I've found I can be doing yoga while
gardening, reading, knitting, standing in line, sitting in a meeting, or waiting on
traffic. It's not just the mat. I hope you'll come discover what I mean."
