Polygamy

u nder quranist, men are allowed to marry more than once. This act is known as polygamous
marriage.
Islam is only one of religy who permit a husband o marry more than once (one ,two or three or
four) polygamy is arranged in by qur’an An-nisa verse 3 and verse 127 .

Verse about polygamy

An-nisa verse 3

‫ع ۖ فَ ِإ ْن ِخ ْفت ُ ْم أ َ اَّل‬ َ ‫اء َمثْنَ ٰى َوث ُ ََل‬

َ ‫ث َو ُربَا‬ ِ ‫س‬ َ ‫طوا فِي ا ْليَتَا َم ٰى فَان ِك ُحوا َما َط‬
َ ِ‫اب لَكُم ِمنَ الن‬ ِ ‫َوإِ ْن ِخ ْفت ُ ْم أ َ اَّل ت ُ ْق‬
ُ ‫س‬
4:3 – ‫اح َدةً أ َ ْو َما َملَكَتْ أ َ ْي َمانُ ُك ْم ۚ ٰذَ ِلكَ أ َ ْدنَ ٰى أ َ اَّل تَعُولُوا‬ِ ‫ت َ ْع ِدلُوا فَ َو‬
And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you
of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only]
one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].

An-nisa verse 127

‫الَلتِي ََّل‬ ‫اء ا‬ ِ ‫س‬ ِ ‫علَ ْي ُك ْم فِي ا ْل ِكتَا‬

َ ِ‫ب فِي يَتَا َمى الن‬ ‫اء ۖ قُ ِل ا‬
ِ ِ‫َّللاُ يُ ْفتِي ُك ْم ف‬
َ ‫يهنا َو َما يُتْلَ ٰى‬ ِ ‫س‬ َ ِ‫ست َ ْفتُو َنكَ فِي الن‬
ْ َ‫َوي‬
ۚ ‫س ِط‬ َ
ْ ‫َان َوأن تَقُو ُموا ِل ْليَتَا َم ٰى ِبا ْل ِق‬
ِ ‫ضعَ ِفينَ ِمنَ ا ْل ِو ْلد‬ َ
ْ ‫غبُونَ أن تَن ِك ُحوهُنا َوا ْل ُم‬
ْ َ ‫ست‬ َ ‫ب لَ ُهنا َوت َ ْر‬َ ِ‫ت ُ ْؤتُونَ ُهنا َما ُكت‬
4:127 – ‫ع ِلي ًما‬ َ ‫َّللاَ كَانَ ِب ِه‬ َ
‫َو َما ت َ ْفعَلُوا ِم ْن َخي ٍْر ف ِإنا ا‬
And they request from you, [O Muhammad], a [legal] ruling concerning women. Say, " Allah gives
you a ruling about them and [about] what has been recited to you in the Book concerning the
orphan girls to whom you do not give what is decreed for them - and [yet] you desire to marry
them - and concerning the oppressed among children and that you maintain for orphans [their
rights] in justice." And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is ever Knowing of it.

now population of women bigger than men. So many women don’ t hape a protector as a
husband and their emansipation is annoyed
polygamy for husband may prevent the premarital sex .but still on the limit and the condition.
Polygamy is not meaning to broke the right of the first wife ,because if a wife allow a husband to
marry more than once ,she will get a heaven but of course in good way and good reason.
Islam is not permit to polygamy with the reason that is not suit with syari’a of islam or to get a
sexual satisfication
Finally, polygamy is permited wirth good reason and good way according with al-qur’an and
sunna
Terms of polygamy

Polygamy is one of Islamic law. Polygamy is also a shari'a which many also oppose among Muslims.
What he said was detrimental to women, according to those who held the principle of women's
emancipation.

But polygamy itself is not what they think. The scholars consider the law of polygamy with different
laws. One of them is Syaikh Mustafa Al-Adawiy. He mentioned that the law of polygamy is a
sunnah. In his book ahkamun married waz zafaf, he requires 4 things:

- someone who is able to do justice

A polygamist must have a fair attitude among his wives. He may not be inclined to one of
his wives. This will lead to tyranny to the other wives. The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa
sallam said (which means), "Whoever has two wives then is more inclined to one of them,
on the Day of Judgment he will come in a condition with a part of his body sloping
(HR. Abu Dawud, An-Nasa-i, At-Tirmidzi)

- from neglecting worship to Allah

َ ‫اج ُك ْم َوأ َ ْو ََّل ِد ُك ْم‬

ْ َ ‫عد ًُّوا لا ُك ْم فَاحْ ذَ ُرو ُه ْم ۚ َوإِن ت َ ْعفُوا َوت‬
‫صفَ ُحوا َوت َ ْغ ِف ُروا‬ ِ ‫يَا أَيُّ َها الا ِذينَ آ َمنُوا إِنا ِم ْن أ َ ْز َو‬
64:14 – ‫ور ار ِحي ٌم‬ ٌ ُ ‫غف‬ ‫فَ ِإنا ا‬
َ َ‫َّللا‬

O you who have believed, indeed, among your wives and your children are enemies to you,
so beware of them. But if you pardon and overlook and forgive - then indeed, Allah is
Forgiving and Merciful.

- able to guard his wives

It is an obligation for husbands to look after their wives. So that his wife maintained her
religion and honor. When a person has polygamy, the woman automatically is not just one,
but more than one. He must be able to keep his wives from falling into harm and damage.

- able to provide a living

This is very clear, because a person who is polygamous, is obliged to provide for his wife's
living needs. How does he want to be polygamous, while making a living for one wife is not
enough? This kind of person has the right to be prohibited from polygamy.

Various views about polygamy

- islam is not absolutely prohibit the polygamy if the husband can’not be able to do fair
- which one you choose premarital that have fasilitated or polygamy that have
discriminated of course no one of of that can we choose , but it’s more better if we choose
legal polygamy because it is allowed in syari’a
- polygamy is not in the position as a sunna oor reccomended ,but it is allowed/persmissible
- the blocking of polygamy will create premarital ,prostiitution ,and increase divorce
advantages of polygamy for women / wife

- have many time to prayer

- train the faith
- get rewards from allah swt.
- to avoid divorce
- prove the royality
- to save good relationshsips
