PURPOSE
To minimize hazards and associated risks while carrying out Scaffolding.

SCOPE
Applicable to scaffolding activity carried out any where under execution
function.

RESPONSIBILTY:
Site in-charge / Site engineer / Safety officer / Vendor Supervisor /
Workmen

PROCEDURE:

1. Necessary work permits shall be taken from authorized persons


before starting the work.

2. The area where the scaffolding works to be done shall be properly


barricaded.

3. The caution boards shall be provided at all entries to the area where
scaffolding works is to be done.

4. Scaffolding of height more than 3.00m shall be done only with steel
materials.

5. Proper secured working platforms shall be provided where ever


possible and required.

6. If working platforms are not able to provide the positioning belt shall
be used.

7. The materials shall be lifted only with guide ropes and free fall of
materials is strictly prohibited.

8. All joints shall be properly secured with appropriate type of clamps.

9. The scaffolding shall be properly anchored with nearby permanent


structure where possible.

10. The working area shall be provided with sufficient number of safety
nets below and around the working area.

11. Any materials temporarily stored over the scaffolding shall be


propersly secured and tied with the scaffolding.

12. Sufficient number of life shall be provided above the working area.

13. All persons working above 2.500m height shall use full body safety
harness with lanyard 1.800m shall be used.

14. The safety harness shall be provided 2 lanyards to facilitated


ascending and descending in scaffoldings.

15. The safety harness shall be anchored to the lifelines when the
desired height is reached.

16. A permanent cage ladder with landing at every 2.500m shall be


anchored to scaffolding before taking the scaffolding for use.

17. The scaffolding shall be thoroughly inspected for its completeness


and stability before accepting it for use.

18. All scaffolding shall be provided with green tag or red tag which
indicates useable and rejected respectively.

19. The scaffolding having a green tag only be used, red tagged
scaffolding must be rectified and inspected for getting green tag.

IN CASE OF DEVIATIONS:
Below are the risks that would arise if there are any deviations from the
stated procedure.
 Body Injury
 Leg / hand / head injury
 Fatal
