What is the article all about?

The article tackles about the reading The Five Sexes, was about the misrepresentation of
today’s two-sex system in society. The central issue Anne Fausto-Sterling addresses is that there
are people born outside of the normal way. The most important point or central argument is that
the two-sexes, male and female should no longer be accepted. Instead, five-sexes should be
accepted: male, female, “herms”, “merms”, and ferms”.
He used the term intersex to call the person with this kind of situation. But the standard
medical literature uses the term intersex as a catch-all for three major subgroups with some
mixture of male and female characteristics: the so-called true hermaphrodites, herms, who
possess one testis and one the male pseudohermaphrodites (the "merms"), who have testes and
some aspects of the female genitalia but no ovaries; and the female pseudohermaphrodites (the
"ferms"), who have ovaries and some aspects of the male genitalia but lack testes.
What are the important points that were discussed about gender by the author?
He stressed that the male and female category of sexes is not enough to cover all sexes,
there should have the intersex. The intersex is different from the transgender since intersex or
hermaphrodite came through biological genes without human interventions like operations that
surely alter the appearance of the person but not the genes. The government still not ready about
this since they don't have enough ideas about these conditions. They don’t have yet programs
that can fit to them.He discussed many situations about the intersex people who have problems in
the system by using both sexes as their preference that turns out to have conflict such as having
able to marry on both sexes because of their two sexes. He sited crimes that involved the
herms. He also point that the herms should choose only one of the sexes to avoid problems in the
future. But he suggest that the all sexes should have equal access to rights since this is not cause
by human but of biological conditions.
How do you react on these important points?
According to Plato there once were three sexes-male, female and hermaphrodite but the
third sex was lost with time.
Having the conditions like intersex is a tough challenge because it is beyond the normal
conditions of ordinary people. You are probably many conflicts and problems as the time goes
by. Maybe in school, family, relationships, institution and etc.
What are your reflections?
In this kind of cases, we should be more sensitive in there conditions, the government
should amplify their program about this cases after all we have our equal rights.
And if one accepts the assumption that in a sex-divided culture people can realize their
greatest potential for happiness and productivity only if they are sure they belong to one of only
two acknowledged sexes, modern medicine has been extremely successful. On the other hand,
the same medical accomplishments can be read not as progress but as a mode of discipline.
