Why do we live in a double standard society where we tend to

accept that men are more likely to be more unfaithful than women?
Most of what we know about extramarital affairs, we got from TV
shows and movies. But when you see one happen and unhappen in
front of you in real life, I am pretty sure it is not something you
would love to watch with popcorn and fries.
Tantalizing quote from Margie: Is the screwing he's getting worth
more than the screwing you're getting?
"As legislators, we try to close the gender gap by passing laws that
can empower women and allow them to handle both family and
work,"
What is more important is to push more legislators, women and
men alike, to uphold gender rights.

Gender equality is not a fight between women and men, but a goal
to be championed by both parties.

Many other women are doing just as much, oftentimes, in silence.

They are everywhere, they are faceless, they are nameless. They
are not in power, but they are working hard, and they are waiting for
the rest of the country to recognize the power in them.
Filipino women have gained a lot of ground in becoming productive,
valued members and leaders of key sectors in Philippine society.
“I think that's a very important height to conquer, not just for the symbolism
of it, but because if we women can take our place at all levels, for example,
in the private sector, including at the top level, then also from the top level,
we can shape policy, we can cascade programs,” she explains.

The push for gender equality now moves into the realm of infidelity
and possible penalties for adultery and concubinage as defined by
law.
"This is but one of many measures that should be taken to
strengthen the family as an institution in this time of depreciating
values and waning morals," he said. "It also abolishes the gender
bias of existing provisions against sexual infidelity."

The law governing adultery has an unbecoming history,

marked by intrusive inquiries, inconsistent application, and
class, racial, and gender bias. Society’s double standard
was reflected and reinforced by legal prohibitions. Unfaithful
wives were treated more harshly than husbands and
expected to overlook their spouses’ indiscretions.
