By Carlos Angeloh D. Puno

The SPCIP Mighty Threshers swimming club takes home 10 medals from the
Speedo Jumpstart Novice Meet 2019, held in Xavier School San Juan last June 15,
2019.

The team, spearheaded by Angel Ebayan (who was awarded the coveted Most
Outstanding Swimmer Award), showcased amazing swim times and strokes, amidst the
pressuring waves of audiences, as well as the intimidation from other competitors.

Aside from being awarded the MOS award, Ebayan also snatched 5 gold medals
and 3 silver medals in individual and relay events throughout the competition.

Also in the mix were Chelise Mayo, landing inside the top ten in 25m Butterfly,
100m Medley Relay, and 100m freestyle relay events, Sara Ferrari, snagging gold and
bronze medals in 25m Backstroke and 25m Freestyle respectively, and Nathan
Bastasa, taking 6th, 6th, 7th, and 8th in the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and
freestyle events.

Clarice Martinez, one of the parents, said “They were very proud to represent
and compete for their school. They did well on each event.”
