Cathy Garcia Molina’s “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, like most other romances churned out by

Star Cinema, opens with the story about Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) and Ethan (Alden Richards)
who are two overseas Filipinos working in Hongkong with different goals in life. Joys is a
domestic helper who is determined to do everything to have a better life compared to the life
she had as a child. While Ethan is a bartender who is building a permanent life in Hongkong but
has always been afraid of commitments.

In the process of getting to know each other, Joy and Ethan also discover new things
about themselves, to fall in love with each other which could possibly affect the plans that they
have with their respective lives

This movie is a fine entertainment and must watch movie by all generations since it makes
history as the highest grossing Philippine film of all time and also the lead actors gave what can only be
described as tour de force performances, completely obliterating the lines between where their own
identities and where their movie roles begin.

First, the movie is not just a love story, but it is a beautiful telling and tribute to the overseas
Filipino workers. It is a fictionalized depiction of the lives of a Hong Kong domestic helper as seen
through the experiences of Joy. In fact, the film takes its time to depict this world, stripping the city of its
typical glamour and luxuries and by exposing its streets and walkways littered with cardboard mattings
populated by tired Filipinas living their life. The movie revealed with pain realism the efforts of domestic
helpers to retain their humanity and happiness amidst the pressures of their work.

Second, it is timely, emotional and a family-oriented movie. The ending is not like the “happy
ever after” conclusion, it is something else. It is timely because this movie shows how our domestic
helpers encountered difficulties surviving in a foreign country and we must learn how to respect and
appreciate them for being hardworking and patient. Then, it is a family-oriented movie that even young
ones and the old ones can watch it together .

Third, The movie itself tells different stories about life and finding true happiness. In order to
chase happiness, you should make sacrifices, but making sacrifices is not sad at all. It is a challenge and a
part of the process and you will feel mixtures of emotions while watching this movie.

Lastly, the cinematography is admirable and the life lessons it brings is very realistic. The flow was well
thought and organized. It teaches us to be brave, independent and never forget our dreams and to be
able to reach it .Another lesson that we can learn in this movie is that, it is not selfish to choose your
priorities first. Since no one can fully understand your decisions even they say so, you’re the one who
can understand your own fulfilment.

Therefore, Hello, Love, Goodbye is a must watch movie by all generations because it presented
the life of overseas Filipina workers in abroad, it is timely, touching and a family oriented movie, it tells
different stories and finding happiness and the cinematography and life lessons are splendid and
realistic. Watch it now in cinemas before its too late.
