To whom it may concern,

Hello! My name is Kari LeSueur Betenson. I am very interested in becoming a team member at
your school. As a student and mother, I spend much of my time focused on the impact of
learning. Every day, I take what I learn in the classroom at Arizona State University and apply it
at home with my kindergartener and toddler. They are such sponges of knowledge right now. My
skills extend beyond the home and I am confident they make me the perfect teacher candidate for
your school.

When it comes to mentoring youth, I am not short of experience. I taught private swimming
lessons and coached synchronized swimming for the City of Mesa for 5 years. There is pure joy
that comes from watching that “lightbulb” moment in a child’s expression. Giving praise is my
specialty. The children I’ve been able to encourage on to become disciplined, skilled athletes and
young adults inspire me.

I have experience working with children from little resources/ family support. As a volunteer
mentor for the nonprofit organization Arizonans for Children, I spent at least 8 hrs./month
mentoring a foster youth. Currently, this is a 13- year-old autistic girl. This experience has been
eye-opening for me. A good support system is crucial to a child’s learning and success in
education. I plan on providing that for every single one of my students.

Communication is key for mutual respect in any work environment. I have always prided myself
in my ability to communicate openly my concerns with others. I am a team player and get along
well with others. Ranging from infant to adult, I have had hands on experience working with all
ages and backgrounds of people. I embrace diversity and will celebrate it in the classroom.
Everyone will be welcomed.
