Academic Writing plays an important role for everyone who wishes to seek and

give information. If one has enough knowledge of this, they are able to have the
opportunity to pass on ideas, information, and discoveries to others with ease. By
following the rules in writing academic text, one could easily understand the
point being proven by the paper as it shows everything that has been done and
how the paper came to be. Some Filipino students find it a burden writing an
academic text. There are many factors as to why students have difficulties. But
what they do not know is that knowledge in academic writing could greatly
benefit them in their chosen career paths in the near future.

Many Filipino students find it difficult to write their academic texts. Just the
thought of writing their own is already a burden for some. Most believe that the
use of formal language in academic writing is too difficult for them to
comprehend. In this world full of modernization, the use of formal language is
rarely practiced by the youth in this society. Because of the creation of slangs
that are used on a more daily basis, many find it difficult using formal language
in communicating, may it be writing or speaking.

Another factor could be the student’s mindset of putting away today’s task for
tomorrow or procrastination. A great deal of effort and an ample amount of
time is needed to produce proper academic text. Because students love to do
their tasks a day before the deadline, they have a hard time organizing
everything that must be found in their paper. This makes it difficult for them to
finish it on time.

One could also find it difficult because of their lack of knowledge in writing
academic text. For example, a student who goes to a school that includes
research writing in their subjects would know more than a student who has only
heard about it but has not tried creating one. The student who has never tried
creating his academic text will find it difficult starting one.

To sum it all up, some students may not be accustomed to writing academic
texts as it requires vast knowledge and plenty amount of time to create it. But it
has to be nested properly in schools, as it should be, especially since knowing
how to write a proper academic text can greatly benefit the students in their
school work and with the pursuit of their careers.
