Crew roles

Major Roles
Director: Liberty Martin

Definition: the director is in charge of all aspects of the film including but not limited to:
deciding the music that will play and when it will be played, where the camera will be
located for each shot and will be supervising the actors and other staff.

Producer: Ralph Slee

Definition: the film producer is the person who oversees film production. The producer
will be planning and coordinating various aspects of the film such as; organising editing,
directing and arranging finance.

Director of photography (D.P): Ralph Slee

Definition: the director of photography assists the film director by laying the foundation
for the visual look of the film. The DP will help to tell the story through technical and
artistic decisions.

Editor: Ralph Slee

Definition: the editor is the person in charge raw footage, selecting shots and combining
them into sequences to produce the short film.

Camera operator: Liberty Martin

Definition: the camera operator is responsible for operating the camera and capturing the
shots in the best way possible.

Minor Roles
Assistant Camera (A.C): Ralph Slee

Definition: the assistant camera is an extremely important because they are responsible
for focusing the camera lens as the actors move across set.

Assistant Director (A.D): Lucas Sturman

Definition: the assistant director will be in charge of keeping everything in place for the
main director like making sure people know the production schedule days and also
tracking the daily progress of the film. They also need to be checking the cast and crew
are ready and prepared to go on set and that they know all their lines and that they have
everything they need to start shooting a video. Also, by having medical help on set if an
injury occurs while filming.
Art Director: Amari Miller
Definition: Art directors are in charge of the overall visual aspects of a film and coordinate
the work of other artistic or design staff, which include graphic designers’ graphic
designers.
Casting Director: Lucas Sturman
Definition: Casting Directors sort out the casting of actors for the roles in a film. This
includes close cooperation with the director and producer to understand their
requirements, and suggesting ideal people for each role, as well as doing interviews and
auditions.
Location Scout: Ralph Slee
Definition: The location scout is responsible for getting written agreements signed
between the production company and venue or land owner and filming dates and times.
Production Manager (P.M): Sam Taylor
Definition: Production managers ensure that build up to the filming and the filming
processes run reliably and efficiently. Responsibilities that come with the job include:
planning and organising production schedules, negotiating and agreeing budgets and
timescales with clients and managers
Screen Writer: Amari Miller
Definition: Screenwriters expand on scripts resulting from their own ideas or other
existing ideas or pieces. When writing scripts, screenwriters are responsible for running
through the stories in detail, including both physical environments and the moods of the
characters
