CERTIFICATE
This is to certify that, the work being presented in this project report
entitled “RACK GEAR CUTTING ATTACHMENT ON GEAR
HOBBING MACHINE” In partial fulfillment of the requirement for the
award of the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
of Shivaji University, Kolhapur Submitted by POOJA LOHAR.
To the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KarmaveerBhaurao Patil
College of Engineering, Satara, is the record of the student’s own work that is
carried out under my supervision and guidance.
I hereby declare that the project entitled " RACK GEAR CUTTING
ATTACHMENT ON GEAR HOBBING MACHINE " completed
and written by me has not previously formed the basis for award of any
degree or diploma or other similar title of this or any other university or
examining body.
This study addresses the rack gear cutting attachment on the gear hobbing
machine. This saves the cost as well as requirement of the space. The rack gear attachment
on gear hobbing machine gives the profit and enables to the rack manufacturing even in
the small area.
The attachment is provided on hobbing machine. By using the motion of the tool
shaft of existing hobbing machine a driven shaft is designed . Hob used for cutting of
rack gear will be mounted on the same shaft. By giving the motion of spindle of existing
hobbing mahine where the blank is attached we will run the fixture upon which the rack
blank wil be fixed .
The rotatry motion of a spindle of existing machine will be converted into
reciprocating motin by using master rack and master pinion . master rack will be attached
on spindle and rack support and give reciprocating motion to fixture.
Thus by using simple design considerations rack manufacturing can be done on
the gear hobbing machine. Our aim is to manufacture rack without spending extra
amount.

The template makes use of feature in Word called “styles.” A “style” is a named
set of formatting characteristics. For example, the heading above is in “Chapter 1 –
Heading 1” style and is used for each chapter heading. This style has a specific set of
characteristics: 16 pt. font, bold, centered, etc. Other styles are used in other portions of
the document. For example, “Heading 2” style is used for 1st level subheadings, and
“Body Text” style is used for paragraph text.
Using styles, particularly in a long document, has many benefits:
Table of Contents is created automatically
Allows you to make “global” changes in your document. If you modify the
appearance of a style, the changes are applied to all occurrences of that style
Provides a framework for producing a structured document

The “Bibliography” style does not automatically format your citations into a
specific citation style, such as IEEE. You must enter your citations in the style used by
your department, or use bibliographic management software such as EndNote or
RefWorks or JabRef.

Appendices must be identified by letters (A, B, etc.) rather than by numbers. For
this reason, different style headings are used with appendices. (The style at the top of this
page is “Appendix A - Heading 6.”)

If you need additional appendices, use style “Appendix A – Heading 6” for the
appendix heading. This will label appendices in alphabetical order (A, B, C, etc.).
