Introduction

Discrimination is a very serious problem for the contemporary society.


People do discriminate against each other whether their actions are intentional or happen due to
the lack of knowledge or intricate sociological triggers as well as societal delusions and personal
ignorance. One might easily state that this is the way we are, that our mentality makes us judge
other people, compare them to ourselves or our ideal model of a human being. The complexity of
the problem overwhelms and to start fighting against discrimination, it is essential to determine
how discriminating misconceptions are developed in our mind and promoted by the society. It is
also important to understand the different types of discrimination that exist, as well as their
effects on the people’s lives.
Discrimination is everywhere. We judge other people because of their social
status, ethnicity, gender, and way of behavior or their specific worldview. Surely enough, we are
also judged by others according to the same criteria. The question arises whether this is a typical
model of a human’s behavior, pre-programmed by the very nature or, maybe, some stereotypes
and prejudices are just intentionally imposed by the society we live in. I strongly believe that the
second statement is true as the main reason we start discriminating other people is that they look,
act, think and speak differently. They do not basically belong to the same societal group and we
experience some feeling of their segregation or even some kind of absolutely unjustified
superiority over them. People are highly prejudiced and most of them do not like to accept
differences as it is much more convenient to live in a comfortable world surrounded by people
with the same beliefs, colour of skin, social status while showing utmost contempt for people
who do not fit in with the same category even though those individuals might be 10 times
smarter than you are or have some outstanding talents or achievements you could never dream
of.

Background of the Study

taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than it’s opposite” Quote by

Discrimination nowadays is far more worse than the past years, centuries or
even decades discrimination has always been part of the human history. Discrimination can make
a person be discouraged according to my survey 8 out of ten people are experiencing
discrimination in this school. This kind of problem can leave a fracture to the human heart that
takes time to heal and sometimes discrimination can also cause suicide if not noticed
immediately.
These days almost every person have experienced discrimination about
their family, religion, nationality, gender, social status, grades, talents and even in their school
according to some researchers 45% of African american’s have experienced discrimination 18%
Asian americans have also experienced discrimination 34% of LGBTQIA+ have also
experienced discrimination and 41% women in many countries have also experienced

II.Preliminary Literature Review

Researchers interviewed 3,453 people, including African Americans,


Latinos, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Whites, and LGBTQ adults, as well as men and
women. People were asked whether they believe they have ever personally experienced various
forms of both institutional and individual discrimination and they found out that almost 70% of
the people they interviewed have experienced different kinds of discrimination. (Harvard T.H
2017)
Between the World and Me is a 2015 book written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and
published by Spiegel & Grau. It is written as a letter to the author's teenage son about the
feelings, symbolism, and realities associated with being Black in the United States. Coates
recapitulates American history and explains to his son the "racist violence that has been woven
into American culture." Coates draws from an abridged, autobiographical account of his youth in
Baltimore, detailing the ways in which institutions like the school, the police, and even "the
streets" discipline, endanger, and threaten to disembody Black men and women. (Ta-Nehesi
Coates 2015).
Age discrimination refers to the unfair treatment of people because of their
age. This type of discrimination has a lower profile than those of racial origin or gender, which
generate more complaints. This is likely to change, however, amid the public's growing concern
over the aging workforce. (Raymond F. Gregory 2001)

III.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The positive effect of conducting this study about discrimination is that we


can be more aware in people experiencing discrimination because discrimination can also affect
the education of a children especially their parents
The negatice effect of the study is that many people who have caused people
to be discriminated are going to be emotionally hurt they will feel guilty worried and sorry for
what they’ve done but of course some people may also lose control and bluntly say their true
feelings about the topic
The beautiful and wonderful effect of the study is that many people will
become aware of what they are doing they can be more careful on what they are going to say
they can be mindful about other people surrounding them and most of all people who have
experienced discrimination will be more brave enough in countering discrimination.
