Narrator: Orpheus was the son of

Narrator: it is said that nothing
could resist to his music and
melody, neither friends nor enemies
or beasts. Even the trees, rocks
were entranced with his music.

Narrator: A musician of skill so
rare was loved by the world and but
then fell inlove with Eurydice, pure
and fair.

Orpheus: Eurydice, can you be my
music, can you be my song?
Eurydice: How can I say no? Yes I’ll
be your music and I’ll be your song.

Narrator: They fell in love with
each other. Years had passed they
stayed together. Then Hymen was
called to bless their marriage.

Orpheus: As I promise always to be
true I promise myself to you. I
promise to hold our love as love
everlasting. To you I promise to
cherish and share in everything.
just for this moment, not for an
hour or day, or year – I will always

Eurydice: It was an inexplicable
force that brought us together- when
I first saw you and saw how
wonderful you were, I knew I wanted
to spend the rest of my life with
you. I promise to be always be your
loving wife and to feel that kind of
love everyday of our lives.
Hymen: You have expressed your love
to one another through the
commitment and promises you just
made. By the power vested in me, I
pronounce you husband and wife. You

Narrator: of course they were happy,
of course they were loved. What else
could they be? For Orpheus was in
love with his bride and was love by
Eurydice.

Orpheus: Say that you’ll love me and

music and you are my song. Without
you, how can I go on?
Eurydice: I will be with you and I
will be yours. How can I say “no” to
the voice that implores? I’ll be
your music and I’ll be your song.

Narrator: At sometime soon, after
his omen. Eurydice was wandering in
the forest with the nymphs. When
Aristaeus a shepherd saw her and was
beguiled by her beauty. He started
walking into her and making advances
on her. (Eurydice got scared and
tried to escape.)

Narrator: From the beginning of time
when the garden was green when the
earth was uncursed, when Adam loved
eve. The devil was there, Slithering
scales, and a sharped forked tongue.
He lied to them all. They lost and
he won! From then to this day, then
beware of the snake. The Serpent,
the viper, your true love will take!
Eurydice: *shouts* ahhhh my love!
*Orpheus rushes to her side, but she
doesn’t wake up)
Orpheus: Take my hand. Stay with me.
You are loved. You are free. Don’t

Narrator: Orpheus sang his grief
with his lyre and manage to move
everything living or not on the
world, both humans and gods were
deeply touched by his sorrow and
grief.
Apollo: My deepest condolence to you
upon the passing of Eurydice. But
you can retrieve her from the land
of the dead.
Calliope: No! I forbid! He will die!
No!
Apollo: Any other mortal would have
die but Orpheus is protected by the
Gods.
Orpheus: How?!
Apollo: Descend to Hades and see his
wife, but this will never be easy.
Orpheus: For Eurydice, I will.
Apollo: Into the Stygian realm you

ghosts and the souls of people
unknown. Cerberus, the gatekeeper

Narrator: Orpheus then journey to
the land of the dead. With him is
his lyre as his weapon and love for
Eurydice as his armour.

Narrator: Orpheus continues his
journey to the land of the dead. But
unexpectedly, he got lost. He got
lost in Medusa’s Lair.
Medusa: well, this is a fabulous
surprise to have such visitor. I get
so lonely here.
: You know I once had such beautiful
hair, I was courted,and desired by
many suitors but then it all changed
because of Athena, the woman who
cursed me, who turned me into this.

Narrator: after Orpheus’ encounter
with Medusa, he then reach the gate
to the underworld. Cerberus the
three-headed God, responsible for
preventing intruders to trespass
into the domains of his master was
there.

Narrator: Orpheus played him a
mellifluous song and Cerberus was
enchanted which made him sleep.
:Charon was the ferryman of Hades.
Those who passed away would have to
cross the rivers Styx,to reach the
underworld, and Charon would take
them on this journey.
Orpheus: Let me pass the river styx,
I need to see Hades.
Charon: the living are not permitted
here, die then come back.
Orpheus: I must
Charon: *open palm* then pay,
drachma only.
Oprheus: I have no money, I only
have a lyre and love with me. I will
play for you then you decide.

Narrator: Charon, the ferry captain
who charged dead souls to cross the
river styx, was so moved that he
brought Orpheus across free of
charge.

Narrator: hades and Persephone was
surprise of the arrival of Orpheus
in their domains.
Hades: How dare you invade my
domains with your mortal being? You
tell me your motivation or you will
endure endless suffering in
Tartarus.
Orpheus: I came here to beg you to
allow me reunite with my lover
Eurydice in the world of the living.
*Orpheus sang a sad song with his

Orpheus: how could you take her? How
can she be gone? There will be
payment from everyone. There will be
no music, there will be no song, not
when my love is buried and gone!
You took her away! You can set her
free. Oh please give my love and my

Persephone, beautiful queen of the
damned Hades, I ask you to try. Here
I am kneeling, my life in your
hands. For if she cannot live- I

the Gods?! That which is taken
cannot be returned. That which is
lost cannot be regained. These are
rules which you must learn.
Orpheus: I will be with her, and I
will be yours. She’s calling to me
through the door. She is my music
and she is my song. Without her I
cannot go on.
Hades: Go on your way, you romantic
young fool! The law is the law!

Persephone: I said there are rules,
there will always be rules
:young Orpheus your music touched my
soul. In ways that it has not been
touched before, and for this gift, I
give you your reward.
Hades: Go on your way. Go quickly,
don’t wait. This land has its laws,
and you have your fate. Your lover
will follow, don’t look back to see.
Or Eurydice will stay forever with
me!
Persephone: your faith will bring
her back with you. Don’t look behind
to see if it is true
Narrator: Orpheus was delighted; he
thanked the Gods and left to ascend
to the world. He struggles not to
look back, but listens intently for
any sign of Eurydice but could not
hear anything and he started
believing that the Gods had fooled
him.
Apollo: hold on my love, the light
is near.
Narrator: only a few feet away from
the exit, Orpheus lost his faith and
turned to see. Choking back a sob he
look behind him and sees Eurydice-
Fading like ghost.)
Eurydice: My loveeeeee!
Orpheus: Nooooooo! Eurydiceeee!
Narrator: Orpheus tried to return to
the underworld but a man cannot
enter the realm twice, not alive
anyway.
Orpheus: Let me in! I’m begging you!

: Eurydice Eurydice my lovee
Narrator: Orpheus was desolated and
plunged into a horrible depression
and his music was never happy again.
*tug2 ug sad songs*
Narrator: sometime after,he was
found by the group of pecattis who
were Dionysus priestesses whom drunk
had the intend to sleep with
Orpheus, but he was only devoted to
playing his sad songs.
*iseduce sa pecattis si Orpheus pero
baliwalaaun ra ni Orpheus*
Narrator: Furious, the pecattis
threw rocks at Orpheus and broke his
lyre. The pecattis coud not bear the
thought that a poet who sang so
beautifully of love, would not love
them. Their jealousy drove them to
frenzy and they destroyed the poor
Orpheus.
Narrator: the world had lost two
great souls. Orpheus and Eurydice
had loved each other so deeply that
when they separated, Orpheus had
understood the pain and joys of
lovers everywhere and a new art form
the love poem was born. While the
world wept, Orpheus found peace, and
his other half, in the underworld.
There to this day he walks with
Eurydice along the banks of the
River Styx. Sometimes, they stroll
side by side, sometimes she’s in
front and sometimes he takes the
lead, turning to look back at her
as often as he likes.
