All the shortcuts are checked on Microsoft Word 2010 on Windows 7 platform, hence some of the codes may not work on other software like Excel an
PowerPoint. In this case you can just copy and paste the symbols. Also the symbols may look different on Microsoft office documents compared to t
ones displayed on the above table as this is a website. Follow the below instructions on how to use these Alt key shortcuts:
1. Press and Hold any of the ALT key and then press the numbers one by one.
2. Make sure Numeric lock is switched on.
3. Shortcut keys with numbers will only work with ALT and the number pad keys as shown in the below keyboard picture. It may not work as expecte
the number keys part of the regular keyboard.

We have tested on Windows 10 with different Office versions, they are working. Those are default shortcuts should work fine with
standard US English keyboard.

Type (c) and press spacebarf for copyright. type (r) for registered. For continuation, just type … . Type (TM) for trademark. The Alt + Ctr
letters as shown above worked for me, though. I don’t know how to do the Euro any other way.
Alt + control + e should produce Euro symbol. If that does not work on Windows 10, press Win + ; keys to open Emoji keyboard.
Search for Euro emoji and insert on your documents.

Doesn’t seem to have any default shortcut, other than pressing “Shift+ Control + F” to open Fonts dialog and choose Strikethrough
option.
Otherwise you can create custom shortcut as explained in this article https://www.webnots.com/how-to-create-custom-shortcuts-for
symbols-in-microsoft-word/.

These code vary depending on the user’s codepage so they don’t all work the same on all machines.
Yes, also changes on Windows 7 and Windows 10 but generally works on all the manufacturer’s PC.

Hi,
Thanks for this table. I have used the ALT key to insert special characters for years and suddenly they are inserting crazy characters for me. F
example, ALT-150 gives me a little sun character instead of an en dash. ALT-134 gives a lower case “a” with a little circle above it instead of a
daggar. ALT-167 gives degree symbol instead of section mark. Nearly everything is wrong. (I saw your ALT-25 for down arrow. Hadn’t used th
one. It works. Go figure.)
I’m Googling like crazy to see if there is any solution to my problem and find no references to this behavior whatsoever. I’m wondering if
anyone here has ever seen this and knows how to fix it.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
You can try with leading zeros to see whether it works for you – for example, Alt + 0150 should show you en dash.
Also check the font settings that you are not using special fonts.

Your link for “special symbols” links to “Speical-Symbols.png” which is 138px x 1024px, which is basically unusable due to the small size. Th
other images are all of the order of 700px+, and quite legible. This is a useful set of pages, and I have sent many people to view it when they
ask me for any of those special characters. This image problem was brought to my attention by one whom I referred to your site, therefore I
report this oversight to your good self.
Thanks for taking time to pointing, the image is changed to larger size.

Thank you for a great list. Have you found a shortcut for the square foot symbol? It looks like a square with a line going through it (from the
top to the bottom).
The square root shortcut is Alt + 8730 as mentioned in the list, but yes it’s a radical symbol does not look like what you write.

I’d love to see an equilateral triangle symbol for change/delta. Even better would be another with a flame inside for change/delta to heat.
Try, Alt + 916 for capital Greek letter delta Δ and Alt + 248 for small Greek letter delta δ.
I am using wireless keyboard, I am not able to use the special characters like ∛, ₣, ₱, Ø. Its because there is no numeric lock on the wireless
key board. I am stuck, can you suggest me how to go about it?

If Alt code is not working then one of the alternate solution is to use Character Map utility available in Windows. You can search and co
the required symbols from CHARMAP program.
The other option is to enter the Unicode character of the symbol and then press Alt + X to convert in to a symbol. For example, on
Microsoft Word enter 2721 and then press Alt and X to convert it in to a star ✡.
Though you may not all Alt codes at least you can get most of them using these ways.
Hope this helps.

This is simply a ‘one-stop-solution’. Thank you very much. I was wondering if anyone knows if there was an ALT code for a glowing light bulb
symbol (for tips, etc.). Thank you again!
Thanks for reading. There is a bulb code in the table: Alt + 128161.
