The Panay Island Upland Sustainable Rural Development Project (PIU SRDP) is a five-year rural
development project (2015 to 2019) and a grant from the Republic of Korea as an Official Development
Assistance (ODA) to the Philippines through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The
project conducted a Mid-Year Assessment and Planning Workshop for eight Farmer’s Association
Beneficiaries under the Second Phase Implementation of the said project. Accomplishments and updates
of the Farmers Association managed second phase livelihood projects were presented during the activity
including the sustainability plans for the succeeding years. The workshop took place at the municipality
of Sibalom, Antique last July 16 to 19.

Each Farmers association has three representatives; the president, bookkeeper and Secretary together
with their Focal Person and Agricultural and Extension Workers in LGU with the total of sixty (60)
participants including PIU-SRDP staff. The activities include individual presentation of status of Farmers
Association, Panel Discussion to improve the current practices, action planning and expository learning
activity. Participants of the Phase II Project Assessment and Planning Workshop visited the two sites from
the second phase beneficiaries in Tamayoc and Igburi, Patnongon, Antique, wherein the Goat house and
Chicken House were located. The Farmer Leader shares her technique in raising chickens and how to raise
Goat’s kid. We also visited Farm Ville at San Jose, Antique as an expository learning activity. Farm Ville is
an integrated demonstration site owned and managed by San Jose LGU as venue for technology transfer,
income generation and capacity enhancement center for farmers and students. It is also an accredited
practical site for NC I, II and III. The last part of the activity is the awarding of Certificate of Appearance
and A token from the Parvanna Inn.
