Conclusion:
Last September 30, 2019 I conducted among my family, neighbours and
schoolmates with a total of 10 people, 3 from my family, 3 from my
neighbour and 4 from my schoolmates. These are what I concluded from
the survey:
For the first question I got a hundred percent answer on yes, they have all
experienced earthquake in their life, then for the second question I got
90% on YES and one answered probably, so I concluded that many of the
interviewees know about the “BIG ONE” and it’s good for their families
and the community they belong to. For the third question, only 60% of
them have a house that can withstand 7.5 magnitude earthquake, while
the 40% said that their house needs some improvements to withstand that
strong of an earthquake. The fourth one bagged 70% which means fairly
many have safety gears such as helmet, whistle and flashlight with them
inside their house, while others have 10% respectively, the fifth question
had 70% YES answers, 20% are in the process of acquiring emergency
kits, and the other answered NO. 60% of them have an exit plan ready for
when the earthquake hits while there are 20%-20% on the process and
probably, 50% knows what to do in case the BIG ONE strikes 10% and
40% on in the process and probably respectively, which shows that we
should put up more information about it maybe in the internet,
newspapers and things that people get hold of in their everyday life. For
question number eight, 60% answered NO and 20%-20% for YES and
probably, 40% have a sure evacuation plan when the earthquake happens,
20% are in the process and 40% are not sure if they have. 70% percent of
them are fully prepared, 10% are in the process of preparing and 20% will
probably prepare, the percentages are the same for the eleventh question.
Almost but one have attended a seminar or drill about the earthquakes
and aftermaths, which is good because it is essential to have someone
even with a bit of knowledge when something that big happens. 70% an
ambulance or emergency team to call when it happens, 10% are not so
sure and 10% don not have. 50% of the homes are not ready for the Big
One, 20% are in the process and 30% are not so sure. For the last
question, 40% of the barangays are ready, 10% is in the process, 30% are
not so sure and 20% said that they are not ready. I therefore conclude that
more than half of the interviewees are ready enough if an earthquake like
the Big One happens.
TASK NO. 2
IS YOUR HOME READY FOR THE “BIG ONE”?
- I think my home is not prepared for a disaster like this because we
only have first aid kits and some things that can warning us when an
earthquake is occurring. Our house is old, some foundation of it will
break easily in a disaster like this, another reason that can contribute
that we are not prepared. We do not have any emergency exits in
our house incase someone was left behind. We all know what to do
but do we know when will this happen that’s why I want to convince
my family to prepare and be alert in all times.
