EXPLORING THE "1-3" CONCEPT

As recorded by Major Seventh

Performance Notes

1-3 Arpeggios

1-3 refers to the 1 note on one string and 3 notes on the adjacent string. By using this concept we will gain speed, articulation, and range.
These examples will be played over the A minor nine chord.
(A-C-E-G-B) Notice the C major seventh in the upper extention.

Measure 1 & 2 is the second inversion of the C major seventh triad.

Measure 3 & 4 is the third inversion of the C major seventh triad.

Measure 5 &6 is the root position of the C major seventh triad.

Measure 7 & 8 is the first inversion of the C major seventh triad.

Notice the economy picking used. To get the most from this lesson convert each example into other arpeggios such as dominant, minor,
and minor7b5 using the same concept. You will find inversions that sound and or more comfortable than others. You will most likely keep
these and toss the rest. I tend to play examples 1 and 2 most often.
