REDISCOVER AND REVIVE THE FILIPINO YOUTH OF TODAY

One hundred and four million Filipinos! This is currently the estimated

number of people in our nation. I am surely just a speck against the total

population, but I am certain, that I count.

Honorable panel of judges, guests, friends, ladies and gentlemen, good

morning!

I am a proud Filipino youth of today! Through my veins runs the heroic

blood of the courageous Rajas of the land. I hold the torch of triumph that my

forefathers have bestowed on me. I was not carried into this world in downfall. The

resilience of the past centuries nourishes my will and I am still fighting for a

common goal, contributing to national well-being.

Many might call me-“Batang Pasaway” of today, its maybe I showcase the

unpleasant deeds of the youth which they think cool but the scary and sad truth

behind is the distinction of my future and also to the whole nation. Gone are the

days when almost of the whole nation believes when Dr. Jose Rizal once said, “

Ang Kabataan ang pag asa ng Bayan”. Through metabolizing the process of the

Filipino youth towards national well being, maintaining the awareness and

condition of the youth, nourished and healthy, is relevant as we take part in nation

building. Through science, metabolizing this process will not be so hard to achieve

for the youth.

I am the youth of today. I live in the modern world where morals and ethics

are slowly vanishing. From notebooks to notepads, abacus to cellphones,

technology is slowly shutting down the actuality and completely swallowing us to

the virtual reality. The youth should be responsible for using gadgets to avoid

excessive consumption of their time to the things that is actually what they don’t

need to do. Through science, youths will be able to know that too much technology
can cause havoc. It’s only a one in many issues where youth’s health is at worst.

The common and most dangerous for the youth nowadays is illegal drugs. It will

make you feel tired but not hungry. Presenting dangerous effects to the soul, mind

and physical aspects of an individual is truly not enough. The awareness of the

youth about these stuffs is inadequate. We should be the one to lead our fellow

youths to attend advocacy programs to totally demolish illegal drugs for the

national well-being. There are still either major or minor hindrances to the

nourishing process of the youth including teenage pregnancy, depression, and

many more that has a bad effect to the youth even in their mental health.

With the intrusion of other fragmented cultures and the prevalent

advancement of technology, a number of our deep-rooted values are at the verge of

oblivion. People harm and even murder their own siblings. Where is our close

family ties? Our high reverence for Mother Nature has become a rampant dilemma

in the whole wide world. Where is our respect for mother nature? Our Mother land

is in vain! Her fetters are those of poverty, inequality and social disparity. Her

shackles are those of demoralization, graft, injustices, human rights violations,

corruption, and treachery. Her eyes are chained by virtual reality, the influx of

information from social networking sites paving the way of rampant fake news that

triggers our credibility. Where is our trustworthiness? But her heart shatters as she

sees her sons point their guns at each other. She sees her daughters slaving their

way in foreign lands to earn money to buy food for their families. Is this what the

Filipino values deserve for?

Youths should be aware and mindful in metabolizing such conditions to their

environment. Only adapt those conditions that can eliminate the wall that blocks

the metabolizing process of the youths values towards the best of the nation.
Solving major and common issues of the youth towards our health is a great

help for nation’s well-being. We should be mindful of what goes to our body,

what we keep in it, and what we do to make it work in positive outcomes. Because

nourishing the youth towards the national well-being is a way we can reach

success. Our health is everyone’s health.

I strongly believe that the only way to reach our dreams for the future is to

have a clear understanding of the past. The things happened can never be changed

but they can be lessons we can learn from. I am the youth of today. And I’m only a

youth but surely I can contribute something. Heed me honourable people of the

church, keep us inspired of your worthwhile activities and guide us in the right

way. To our government and political icons , hear our call! To our parents, sustain

and suffice our needs. What the youth sees in people they look up to is always right

in their eyes. To my fellow youth, let us do whatever we can do now or it will be

too late. Let us not wait that we’ll become ashes in the split of time, in the blink of

an eye. Ladies and gentlemen, let us rediscover and revive the Filipino youths of

today. Once again, good morning!
