Implementation of Physical Learning With Discovery Method To Improve Interest in Learning and Skills of Student Science Process
ABTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine an increase in students' interest in learning and
science process skills using the concept of learning models with the discovery method and how much
increased interest in learning and science process skills of students by using a conceptual learning
model with the discovery method. This study uses a quasi-experimental research method with a
research design using pretest, treatment and posttest questions. The population in this study was
Wonosobo State MA Class X 2016/2017 school year. From this population, two classes of research
samples were taken, namely Class X IPA 1 as an experimental class and Class X IPA 5 as a control
class with a total of 38 children each and the total sample was 76. Data collection was done through
observation, questionnaires and questions test. The results of the data obtained in the form of a
questionnaire interest in learning, science process skills data, and observation sheets. The validity of
the test instrument uses a biserial point formula, the reliability of the test uses the KR-20 test, analysis
of the degree of difficulty and different power. The data analysis technique used is descriptive
analysis, and for hypothesis testing using t-test and gain test. The analysis showed an increase in
interest in learning and science process skills of students who use physics learning models with the
discovery method. Based on these results it is proven that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
From the calculation of the gain test, the results for increasing interest in learning in the experimental
class were 0.34 and in the control class 0.23. Then to increase the science process skills in the
experimental class is 0.48 and the control class is 0.11.
