Part A

Compare and Discuss the value of the slope with calculated value for the water density

Mass neither be created nor destroyed. No matter how the volume changes, the mass
always remains the same. Since we know that the density of the an object is its mass per
unit volume, we can find out the relationship between volume and density.

Therefore, if the volume increases, the mass remains unchanged, but the density decreases.

Even though the mass and volume of water increase proportionally, the gradient of the
graphs are slightly different the mass of water has gradient of 1.244 while the volume of
water has the gradient of 0. 5232.The difference in gradient may be caused by the
inaccuracy of recording the data during experiments.

Comment on two different method in determining the volume of the solid object:
displacement by calculating the different of initial volume and volume after solid object is
placed in water. The other is dissection, this process allow you to calculate the volume of
irregular shapes by virtually broken down into regular shapes (eg square ,circle, tringle)

Discussion
Matter is made up of atoms and molecules, and the more of them we have, the more the mass of
an object is. We measure mass in units like kilograms, ounces, and pounds. which are the SI
(Standard International) unit of mass. Your bathroom scale is calibrated to tell you your mass, but
it only works properly on Earth. If you took it to the moon, the weight on the scale would change,
but of course, your mass would not. Volume is how much space something takes up. The
standard unit of volume is meters cubed (or cubic meters). Hence as the mass of the water
increases so must the volume

Conclusion
The objective of this experiment was to calculate the density of water, solid objects and density
of unknown NaCl.I used two experimental methods to find and calculate the density.
Firstly, is through water displacement. This is done by filling a measuring cylinder or beaker with
water, record the volume and later slowly drop the solid object into the beaker/measuring
cylinder. Once it is done record the volume of water the different between initial volume of water
and volume of water after the solid object is dropped will be the volume of the object
The second method is to simply use the volume formula if the solid object is a basic shape (Eg.
The formula for volume of cube is length x base x height). Lastly to find the density of the salt
solution
Lastly to calculate the density of salt solution is as follows. First weigh the beaker record the
mass of the beaker and then add water into the beaker and weight it once more and record the
data. Later replace the beaker with NaCl and weigh it.
To find the density of NaCl is to find the weight ratio of the saltwater-filled bottle to the one filled
with water. Lastly to calculate the density oen needs to multiple the ratio by the density of pure
water (1000 g/L) to get the density.
I have met the objectives of the lab because I was able to deternine the densities of water, solid
object and a salt.
