Evaluation:

This is a short evaluation on the short film I have just

produced.
The positives are its use of lighting and camera angles.
The use of warm and neutral lighting adds to the effect of
the movie as it feels rather comforting, strongly
contrasting the stressful atmosphere of the scenes.
The camera angles are very smooth and I feel they make
the short very fluid and steadily paced, you never get a
full body shot of one of the characters in the short, which
shrouds them in mystery. This is contrasting to the
character in the woods who is openly shown, which gives
off a feel that he is the protagonist and whereas the
character in the theatre is the antagonist.

Moving onto the improvement, sometimes the use of

lighting is over the top and unfitting to the scene, there is
a shot in the woods just after the climax in which it is a
overly yellow hue which does not suit the scene at all,
within that scene the jumper should be in focus, however
it is completely out of focus as is most of the shot.
Another thing to improve on is the pacing, the editing
came out too fast paced and gives off too much of a
thriller feel, whereas the intention was to make a slow
paced horror. This ruins the overall narrative of the film
as it needs to be at a slower pace to be more digestible.

Peer-Evaluation:
After asking a few people to review the movie I have received very helpful feedback on the
positives and negatives.

The positives are that many people very much enjoyed the use of lighting in scenes.

Many people also really enjoyed the atmosphere and the camera shots that were utilised.

This is very helpful as it helps me gage how effective our lighting was in giving off the vibe we were
helping for.

Some of the critism focused on the storyline and how it was rather confusing or without much plot
at all.

This shows me that I need to improve on my storylines, the best way to do this is to plan for scenes
better, I can now also apply my new knowledge of storyboards and scripting to further improve the
narrative I am trying to complete by making it clearer to those I am working with, what my ideas
consist of and how I would like to see them played out.

In conclusion I have learnt that I need to be more mindful of how my films are edited as not to
confuse the audience with its pacing. I have also learnt that my skills are more proficient in certain
areas of lighting effects than others. Futhermore, I should try and improve my ability to pinpoint
what the camera is focused on.
