GRAPHICS IN ENGINEERING
Engineering

• Engineering (from Latin ingenium, meaning

"cleverness" and ingeniare, meaning "to contrive,
devise") is the application of scientific, economic,
social, and practical knowledge in order to design,
build, maintain, and improve structures, machines,
devices, systems, materials and processes. The
discipline of engineering is extremely broad, and
encompasses a range of more specialized fields of
engineering, each with a more specific emphasis on
particular areas of technology and types of
application.
Engineering
Graphics

• Graphics (from Greek γραφικός graphikos,

'something written' e.g. autograph)
are visual images or designs on some surface,
such as a wall, canvas, screen, paper, or stone to
inform, illustrate, or entertain. In contemporary
usage it includes: pictorial representation of data,
as in computer-aided design and manufacture, in
typesetting and the graphic arts, and in educational
and recreational software. Images that are
generated by a computer are called computer
graphics.
