MA in Art History

Information Sheet

Departmental contacts

If your question is academic in nature (regarding course load, course selection, program options
etc) then see the Graduate Program Director:

Dr Kristina Huneault kristina.huneault@concordia.ca (514) 848-2424 ext 4697.

Please note that Kristina will be away from the office from April 12 to 30.

If your question is administrative, contact the Graduate Program Assistant.

At present, Dr Marie-Eve Marchand is part-time acting GPA and may be reached at
art.history@concordia.ca.

A full-time GPA will be hired over the course of the summer and ready to greet you in
September.

Admission

If you have not already done so, please make your confirmation payment via myconcordia as
soon as possible. Your place is not secure until you are fully paid. This payment will be
deducted from the cost of your degree.

Advising and Course Selection

Course descriptions are available online at http://docinterhar.org. This website will be renewed
over the course of the summer, but even now it contains important information about the
structure of your program.

You may choose your own courses without formal advising, but the GPD will be happy to
discuss your options with you if you wish. Simply email Kristina Huneault on or after May 1 to
request an advising appointment. You must take at least 3 credits from block A.

Please be aware that with Supervisor and GPD approval you may take 3 credits outside of the
program (an MA art history seminar at Concordia, a doctoral seminar in another department at
Concordia or any of the Montreal universities) If you wish to apply for such approval please
contact your supervisor in the first instance including a course description and a rationale. In
exceptional instances up to 6 credits may be approved.

Registration

Once your confirmation fee has been paid, you can register for Concordia courses through the
MyConcordia portal.

If you are registering for a course at one of our partner institutions (UQAM or Université de
Montréal) you will need to do this through CREPUQ rather than MyConcordia
https://mobilite-cours.crepuq.qc.ca/4DSTATIC/ENAccueil.html

You are strongly counselled to register for your 2019-20 courses after April 20 and before July 1
because after that point registration is opened to students in other departments.

A guide to Concordia registration is attached and there is more information available at

https://www.concordia.ca/students/registration.html#graduate

TA’ships

Your TA contracts will be issued in August.

Although the instructor for ARTH 200 has not yet been assigned, it is likely that they will wish to
have a pre-term meeting on August 28, 29, or 30.

Scholarships

Scholarship monies will be paid into your account after the DNE date (drop-add period) of each
semester. Tuition is deducted directly from them. You may then request a refund of any
remaining money through your MyConcordia portal.

In September

At Concordia, classes begin as of September 3rd. You must be in Montreal by this date at the
very latest, but it is highly recommended to move to the city during the summer months in
order to get your bearings and enjoy our very lively city.

Some graduate courses at our partner institutions begin slightly later. If a start date is not
indicated on our website or that of CREPUQ, please email the Concordia GPA in August and they
will provide you with the information.

We look forward to greeting you in September! There will be welcome events for the
department as well as the interuniversity program.
