SYMPTOM :

830E-1AC CA1021 A40943 - LH Wheel Motor locking

FAILURE : Crack, Dent, Worn, Scratch, Short Circuit, Burn, Bend, Loose, Rusty, Pitting, Broken etc

Wheel motor locking due lack of speed signal. Intermittent failure.

HOW WAS THE FAULT NOTICED MAIN PART CAUSED PROBLEM

During normal operation truck stopped to load on the shovel and when tried to leave the load area the LH 1 x GE Harness 58E-06-00630
Wheel Motor was locking not allowing truck moviment. Was necessary cut out the inverter 1 to move
truck.

CAUSED OF THE FAILURE ANALYSIS : (Describe detail of failure, analysis the cause, operating condition & ATTACHED PHOTOGRAPHS or Drawing)

Analysing datapack Event 143,

Subcode 02 – Traction Motor 1 Speed
Sensor 1 (SS1) No Frequency Input
was possible to verify that lost LH
speed signal momentarily.

Summary list from wPTU. As can be

observed, it was a intermittent failure.
Truck works few shifts without failure.
It cause the troubleshooting soo long.
When technictians arrive on the truck,
no more failures active. Just on Oct 08
that was possible see the failure at the

dump or waiting on the line, not allowing truck start
the moviment. We didn´t receive any feedback from
operation that truck lock WM during moviment.
fAILURE indicated that we had a harness problem on
the truck.
- LH and RH speed sensor were tested and swapped
to verify if failure change of side. After few hours of
operation event 143 happen again.
- Speed sensor cable in side the WM was tested and
identified a red cable pressed, measuring ground on
RH WM. We removed cable protection and identified
the pressed area. We fixed with insulation tape. But
problem still continue on the LH WM with code 143/2.
- We inspected connector CND, on the TB29 and
J15/P15. Any problem identified.
- We swapped the WM speed signal on the aux box
(714 and 77 wiring) and also on the rear axle box.
After it, event 52 tach right rear. Then problem change
from left to right side.

With this evidences we concluded the GE speed signal

wiring from aux box to rear axle is damage causing this
intermittent.

As we dont have this harness available to delivery the

machine, we took 2 x shield cable locally to put truck
back to operation until the harness be available.

To availd problems, we connected shield from both

cables, welded the connections from cable and pins
and use thermo plastic to insulation.

Were used two cable because speed sensor signal use

7 wiring (Positive, Ground, Shield, +V1, -V1, +V2, -V2)

CORRECTION MADE : OTHERS INFORMATION

It will be replace when parts be available.
