    This document is an amendment to the 2006 General Specification for Civil Engineering Works.     SECTION 1 GENERAL

    APPENDIX 1.1 - STANDARDS

    (a) Appendix 1.1 Delete the following standard:

    BS 5289:1976 (1983) Code of practice. Visual inspection of fusion


    welded joints

    Add the following standard:

    BS EN ISO 17637: 2016 Non-destructive testing of welds. Visual


    testing of fusion-welded joints

    VOLUME 2

    SECTION 18 STEELWORK

    TESTING: STEELWORK

    (b) Clause 18.97 (3) Replace the 1st and 2nd sentences of the sub-clause with the following:

    All welds for structural steel and steel castings shall be visually inspected
    in accordance with BS EN ISO 17637. Non-destructive testing shall be
    carried out on a proportion of welds after visual inspection.
