EDUCATIONAL TOUR NARRATIVE REPORT

Educational tour like wise gives us ideas likewise opportunities to visit different construction sites
that may help us visualize what we are learning at school. It is very important to every student
since it is a part of our learning process to acquire more knowledge through actual exposure to
the different sites. We, the fifth year students together with our professors, had our educational
tour on September 24 to 27, 2019. On the first day, our first destination was the Philippine Arena
located in Bocaue, Bulacan. Philippine Arena is one of the world’s largest indoor arenas, capable
of seating 50,000 people in a fully enclosed building. We watched a short video of how it is made.
The arena is divided into multiple structures to strengthen the building’s earthquake resistance.
We also went to “The Garden” and their “Mushroom Farm.” After that we travel for our second
destination Ilocos Sur. We reached our destination late in the evening. In the hotel, Collado Hotel,
we had our dinner and after that we rest to ready ourselves for the next day. Second Day, we eat
our breakfast in the hotel before leaving. We went to Baluarte Zoo while waiting for the engineers
that will tour us to the sites that we will visit. We depart from the zoo at 9 in the morning. We
traveled to the construction of bypass and diversion roads, Bantay-San Ildefonso by-pass road,
Ilocos Sur. The proposed bypass road was approximately 11.052 kilometers in length and 6.70
meter wide. The project allows increased access to basic social development services and
facilitates fast and safe movement and transfer of people and good between points. We proceed
to our next destination the widening of San Parsua along MNR, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur. The
engineer explained the steps they made in building the bridge and the accomplishments as of the
moment. Their work was delayed due to unworkable site condition caused by intermittent rains
brought by several typhoons and southwest monsoon rains. After that, we went to Paoay to eat
our lunch. After eating we went to Paoay Church. It is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines,
having completed its construction in 1710. What makes Paoay Church outstanding from other
well-known churches around the country is its impressive pyramid-like structure considered as a
primary example of the earthquake baroque style of architecture characterized by its thick walls
made from coral stones and bricks. After roaming around the church we went to Paoay Sand
Dunes. To start our Paoay Sand Dunes Adventure, we hired a 4x4 Rough riding vehicle at the
base of the site. The sand ridges can go as high as 10-20ft at the most, while the most thrilling
ride is the “roller coaster”, where a series of sand hills will make you hold on to that bar of steel
for dear life. After these rides, we try sand boarding where a plank of wood is your equipment to
slide over sand folds in the vast landscape. After a tiring adventure we went to the hotel, Patty
Hotel, to drop out luggage and went a restaurant to eat our dinner after that we went back to the
hotel to rest. On the third day, we went to the DPWH Laoag for a visit. They tour us to their office
and explain to us the works of the different department. They also accompany us to one of their
on going projects which is a School. We roam the site and the Engineer explains the project. After
roaming, we went to Bangui to eat our lunch. We arrived there and saw the gigantic windmills.
After eating we have some pictures of the windmills and the beach. We roamed the area and
enjoyed the site. After that we went to Kapurpurawan Rock Formation. It is a breathtaking rock
formation by the beach known for its creamy white rock surface sculpted by natural phenomena.
After that we travel to the Collado Hotel for our dinner. After eating we leave the hotel to went to
Calle Crisologo. It is famous for its array of old stone houses built centuries ago and the
cobblestone streets where numerous calesas stride across the street, visiting this old town will
bring you back to the Filipino-Spanish colonial era. After roaming we leave and travel for our last
destination the Baguio. We arrived 2 am in the morning. After resting we had our breakfast in the
hotel. After eating we had our free time to roam around Baguio. I went to Mines View park and
took pictures and bought pasalubong for my family and friends. After roaming we went back to
the hotel and rest before eating our lunch. After lunch, we went to Benguet for the strawberry farm
and roam around but when we arrived there it is raining. We stayed for maybe an hour but the
weather didn’t improve so we decided that we have to go. Hours passed and we arrived at
Batangas and we went our separate ways. We enjoyed the tour and had acquired knowledge.
This tour provided us with the break that we needed from school but still learning.
