VJTI Established in 1887, VJTI initially began with only two departments, namely the Sir J.
J. School of Mechanical Engineering and the Ripon Textile School for the two branches of
industry in which Bombay was vitally interested at the time. The first step in the expansion of
the Institute was taken in 1903 when courses in Electrical Engineering were introduced. In
continuation of great legacy, VJTI continued to nature the students for the strong
academic performance through the theoretical concepts, practical understanding and peer

We call upon the industries to engage in continuous relationship with our institute and be

Overview:

The Placement process for the years 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 was successfully completed,
and students being placed across various sectors as per their choice. The successful completion of
placement process for the batches stands the evidence to the high quality of students with excellent
teaching learning process at the institute and the healthy nature of placement process to both
students and recruiters.

Companies from various sectors across different regions hired students for a wide range of
positions. Some of the major recruiters like Rakuten (Japan), IBJ (Japan), Microsoft, Google, Tata
Motors, Bajaj auto, Morgan Stanley, L and T, Reliance, IBM, Sapient, Deloitte, Shapoorji, L and
T ECC, Wipro, Infosys, CISCO, TCS, Godrej, LTITL, SAP, etc, visited the campus and selected
candidates from various disciplines. The large number of students chose the dream and core
companies.

Overall Feedback from the companies was good. Organizations are reluctant to accommodate
academically weak students. In case of those students who are unable to meet company selection
criteria on various parameters such as personality, communication & overall awareness is also
objectionable.

Internships:-
What is an internship?
An internship is a period of work experience offered by an employer to give
students and graduates exposure to the working environment, often within a specific
industry, which relates to their field of study. Internship enriched the relation
between Industry and Academia.

Internships can be as short as a week or as long as 12 months. They can be paid or

voluntary; however, before you start an internship it’s important to know your rights
with regards to getting paid. Internships can be done in a range of sectors, including
sales, marketing, engineering, graphic design, management, I.T. and many, many
more. Throughout an internship you will develop a variety of soft skills, including
communication skills, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, creative problem
solving and influencing skills.
‘On-the-job’ experience can be as valuable as anything learned in your studies.
After all, you cannot really understand what a job is all about until you have worked
in that environment. Internships are great opportunities to speak directly to people
who have experience in the role you aspire to; and their knowledge of the job and
working environment will give you a greater understanding of what it’s all about
and what you need to do to progress. Your career aspirations may change when
you’re faced with the true realities of a role. Internships can therefore be used as a
‘try before you buy’ option, before you embark on a career and confirm if this is
what you want to do in the long term.
An internship can give you a real insight into the world of work, allowing you to
build on the theory you learned at university and helping you to gain practical skills
that will help strengthen your CV and make you more employable. Internships offer
you the chance to test your skills in real-life situations, explore your career options
and gain an insight into an organization or career path.

Generally, an internship consists of an exchange of services for experience between

the student and an organization. Students can also use an internship to determine if
they have an interest in a particular career, create a network of contacts, or gain
school credit. Some interns find permanent, paid employment with the organizations
with which they interned. This can be a significant benefit to the employer as
experienced interns often need little or no training when they begin regular
employment. Unlike a trainee program, however, employment at the completion of
an internship is not guaranteed.
Following a successful internship it is not unusual for employers to make a full-time
job offer to their intern. Many employers use internships as a trial period and will
already have plans to recruit on a permanent basis. Therefore, it’s vital that you
make a good impression; turn up on time, be enthusiastic and show your flexibility,
adaptability and commitment. Results from a recent survey conducted by Graduate
Advantage prove that internships do create jobs for graduates. In my experience, if
you are willing to show initiative, enthusiasm and work hard, you will be given
further opportunities to develop.

Benefits of Internship

Work experience not only makes you more marketable as a job candidate, it also
gives you the opportunity to gain greater understanding about your chosen field.
As a full time student, one of the best ways to gain this experience is by working
as an intern in your field of study to gain practical experience. An internship
offers you the chance to learn by doing in a setting where you are supervised by a
work-place professional, and have the opportunity to achieve your own learning
goals, without the responsibilities of being a permanent employee.

Internships can make change in students:

• Apply classroom learning to authentic work experience
• Allow exploration of many career options, interests and abilities
• Help you learn about a career field from the inside
• Develop leadership skills and build character
• Enable you to work alongside a professional in your chosen career area
• Give you new skills and add to your knowledge base
• Give you confidence in your own abilities
• Give you the opportunity to practice your communication and teamwork skills
• Allow you to meet new people and practice your networking skills
• Provide evidence that you have initiative, are reliable and have a sense of

responsibility
• Provide a bridge between school and the professional world
• Make a valuable addition to your resume
• Enhance your application to Graduate School (where applicable)
• Open the door to a job offer or a recommendation about the next steps you
should take

Benefits for students

More and more corporations around the world recognize that, in order to gain a
competitive advantage, they need to make sure their people know how to handle
themselves at work and how to relate with the new technologies. Some of the things,
which students will learn during their internship in are:

[a] Real time trainees

Always the employer prefers to go for a person who has an experience, because, by
hiring an inexperienced person the company has to incur an additional cost on
training of the candidate, so always they try to avoid going for a fresher. To remove
this barrier for the fresher's SiliconIndia is giving them an opportunity to become a
real time trainee in the best and top most companies.

[b] Assured opportunities in top companies

Doing an internship for two months can fetch you a better and bright future by
giving an opportunity of being placed in the top companies. We have a track record
of giving placement assistance to the outperformed students in their internship
programme to the well known companies in the IT sector. Come grab opportunities
and make your carrier successful.

[c] Exposure to current technologies

In today's world, academic knowledge alone is not sufficient to grow and excel in
life; you need something more which adds up to your qualification. As we already
told, you will be treated as a real time trainee; you will be exposed to the latest
technologies in the market, which will give you a better chance of placement.

[d] Corporate culture

Along with the knowledge and skills, it is very important to know the corporate
culture that you have to follow in the corporate world. Even though you are not an
employee of the company, you will be working with the employees of the company
through which you can learn about the corporate culture and the organization
structure.

[d] Experience of working on live projects

The internship programme is designed to enable interns work on live projects to

give them an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they have gained in the
classroom. Interns get to see the immediate impact of programming tools and
techniques applied by them

Benefits for college

Not only students but colleges also benefited by getting associated with various
organizations for Internship Program. Some of the direct benefits what college
gets are
