Namakarna

It is the traditional Hindu ceremony of naming the new born child. It takes place on the tenth or twelfth
day after birth, the time when a mother is considered clean in order to carry out normal household chores.
The name is selected in a way which would inspire the child to follow a righteous path. There are several
ways of naming a baby. One of the commonest is according to the Nakshatra or sign of the Zodiac at the
time of the birth of the baby.
