Discussion of Results
MPLAB IDE runs as a 32-bit application on MS Windows, is easy to use
and includes a host of free software components for fast application development
and super-charged debugging. MPLAB IDE also serves as a single, unified
graphical user interface for additional Microchip and third party software and
hardware development tools. Moving between tools is a snap, and upgrading from
the free software simulator to hardware debug and programming tools is done in a
flash because MPLAB IDE has the same user interface for all tools. By skipping
some procedures shown in the manual will produce errors in the latter parts of the
experiment that can cause a useless efforts because we need to repeat unless the
user has already done the preparations beforehand. By skipping some in the
procedures for the MPLabX IDE will cause a problem in Proteus 8 as the latter
program requires the prior one to function properly and for it to be able to upload
the program created. The simulation of the experiment then started off by
complying with the instructions found in the manual, recreating the schematic
diagram of the circuit in the software Proteus 8, while the source codes were
implemented on the MPLabX IDE.
Experiment Conclusion
In essence, MPLab X IDE is a proprietary freeware integrated development
environment for the development of embedded applications on PIC and dsPIC
microcontrollers, and is developed by Microchip Technology. And nd Proteus 8 is
a software which can be used to draw schematics, PCB layout, code and even
simulate the schematic. It is developed by Labcenter Electronic Ltd. This two
works as one and it's hard for us to work without knowledge in MPLabX IDE
which our subject focuses on programming, while the Proteus 8 focuses on
schematic diagram (containing almost all components needed such as resistors,
capacitors, LEDs, etc. That is needed in this experiment). Using the Proteus
without anything knowledge about the MPLabX IDE as the base will gives us
errors while uploading the program. The MPLab X IDE and the Proteus 8 can be
used to develop applications for Microchip microcontrollers and digital signal
controllers integrated tool set for the development of embedded applications on
Microchip's PIC and dsPIC microcontrollers. The PICDEM and the PiCkit
microcontrollers are very helpful in this experiment. Although we are not familiar,
we caonclude that they can be used to help learn more about microcontrollers.
