Agriculture requires energy as important input to production. The uncontrolled and
unreasonable use of energy resources in the past few decades has led to the depletion of
conventional type of resources. The present study aimed to determine if using Light
Emitting Diode (LED) lighting can affect the incubation of chicken eggs on hatchability
and chick performance. Twenty – seven (27) chicken eggs were used as the test subjects.
The test subjects were divided into three (3) groups with nine (9) eggs for each group.
Each group have three (3) replicates and were properly arranged to ensure that they were
receiving the same amount of light in an improvised hatchery under the recommended
condition, 37.5 ℃ for incubation. Treatment A involved twenty – four (24) hours
exposure to LED light; Treatment B involved twelve (12) hours exposure to Incandescent
light and twelve (12) hours exposure to LED light; Treatment C involved twenty-four
(24) hours exposure to Incandescent light for twenty-one (21) days of incubation.

CHAPTER 4

CONCLUSION

According to the results of the current research, we found a significant association

between the providing of complement LED lighting during chicken eggs incubation and

chick weight at hatch. Light induced from the LED bulbs during incubation improved

chick percent hatchability. Therefore, we recommend that LED lighting could be applied

during eggs incubation to have high percent hatchability. Further studies through

expanded sampling and detailed studies will be required to provide obvious explanations.
CHAPTER 5

RECOMMEDATIONS

In view of results and conclusions of the study, the researchers recommend that

further researches must be conducted to carry out other significant uses of LED Light

Bulb aside from it is used as alternative to the traditional incandescent light bulb used in

egg incubators and since LED lighting is more efficient, versatile, and lasts longer.
