CHAPTER I
The Project and Its Background
I. Introduction
Today each soldier has a battle, and the life of a soldiers in war is not easy soldier face the
possibilities getting killed and their daily lives were full of hardships in every battle. In usual battle
field of the soldiers they are carried by a military vehicle that includes the all land combat. In each
soldier carry a one rifle. Rifle is a long barrel firearm designed for accurate long shooting. A soldier
life is a hard task and if automated rifle can manage their task they can help in their daily lives.
A rifle is a portable, long-barreled firearm designed for accurate long-range shooting, to be held
with both hands and braced against the shoulder for stability during firing, and with a barrel that
has a helical pattern of grooves or rifling cut into the bore wall. The term was originally rifle gun,
with the word "rifle" referring to the machining process of creating grooving’s with cutting tools,
and is now used for any long handheld device designed for well-aimed discharge activated by a
trigger, such as the personnel halting and stimulation response rifle. These project in titled
automated rifle is based by android application that control the input of the project. The soldier
will make sure that every enemies can be shooted by seeing the target, it will receive instruction
from the user through the Bluetooth module to select the peripherals input and output of the android
application. The automated rifle have a metal plate shield to secure the project prototype into the
possible bullets that receive by the enemies. Rifles only fired a single projectile with each squeeze
of the trigger. Modern rifles are commonly classified as single shot, bolt action, semi-automatic,
or automatic. Single shot, bolt action, and semi-automatic rifles are limited by their designs to fire
a single shot for each trigger pull. Only automatic rifles are capable of firing more than one round
per trigger squeeze; however, some automatic rifles are limited to fixed bursts of two, three, or
more rounds per squeeze.
Modern automatic rifles overlap to some extent in design and function with machine guns. In fact,
many light machine guns (such as the Russian RPK) are adaptations of existing automatic rifle
designs. A military's light machine guns are typically chambered for the same caliber ammunition
as its service rifles. Generally, the difference between an automatic rifle and a machine gun comes
down to weight, cooling system, and ammunition feed system. Rifles, with their relatively lighter
components (which overheat quickly) and smaller capacity magazines, are incapable of sustained
automatic fire in the way that machine guns are; they trade this capability in favor of increased
mobility. Modern military rifles are fed by magazines, while machine guns are generally belt-fed.
Many machine guns allow the operator to quickly exchange barrels in order to prevent overheating,
whereas rifles generally do not. Most machine guns fire from an open bolt in order to reduce the
danger of "cook-off", while almost all rifles fire from a closed bolt for accuracy. Machine guns are
often crewed by more than one soldier; the rifle is an individual weapon.

Republic Act No.10591, otherwise known as “THE COMPREHENSIVE LAW ON FIREARMS

AND AMMUNITION AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF”, was
signed into law by the President of the Philippines on May 29, 2013.

These rules shall be interpreted in the light of Article 1, Section 2 of Republic Act No. 10591,
which stipulates that:

“It is the policy of the State to maintain peace and order and protect the people from violence. The
State also recognizes the right of its qualified citizens to self-defense through, when it is the
reasonable means to repel unlawful aggression under the circumstances, the use of firearms.
Towards this end, the State shall provide for a comprehensive law regulating ownership,
possession, carrying, manufacture, dealing in and importation of firearms, ammunition or parts
thereof, in order to provide legal support to law enforcement agencies in their campaign against
crime, stop the proliferation of illegal firearms or weapons and the illegal manufacture of firearms
or weapons, ammunition and parts thereof.”

II. Project Context

The project developers will develop an automated rifle for controlled by android base
application using arduino it can help soldiers to minimize their task. The prototype majorly used
the following devices and sensors the Bluetooth module, laser, day and night camera, servo motors,
usb cables, metal plate glass shield, and arduino. The following use and function of these devices
and sensors is to complete the main input and output of the project.
The Bluetooth module have some peripherals menu to control the given output of the prototype to
help in the users to select their input and otherwise the use of laser is to help the soldier to verified
the enemies and then the day and night camera vision is use for aiming of the prototype. The servo
motors is to control the pressing trigger, pulling charging handle and the up down and left and
right movement. The metal plate glass is to make sure that the prototype will be protected or
shielded by the bullets. The arduino ATMEGA is the main connection of all inputted devices and
to run the prototype and also it will receive instruction from the user through Bluetooth module.

III. Purpose of the Project

The project developer’s main purpose was to help the users to secure their lives in case
of the wars because some soldier die to protect our nation and some important reasons.

This project will help soldiers to fight in their battles with a safety and convenient battle.
The main reason of this project prototype is to build or create a new generation and changing the
traditional battle of a soldier in a war. The prototype is arduino based project composed of rifle
gun and servo motor to operate the rotation of rifle. The prototype use a Bluetooth module (HC-
05) for wireless communication between the android phone and the prototype. The user control
the whole operation of the prototype by help of android application.

IV. Objectives
The project developers intend to develop an android based automated rifle using arduino.
Specifically the project is designed to;
1. To help the soldier’s fire with cover
2. To not go out from the armoured vehicle to fire with enemy.
3. To avoid killing of soldier’s cause of crossfire.
4. To protect their rifle guns by using the metal plate
5. To change their traditional battle

V. Scope and Limitations

The project can help the user to control the whole function of the prototype. The project
can help the user to shoot their targets or enemies. The project can see the area’s if when day or
night. The project can operate either the soldier’s inside the vehicle.

VI. Technical Background

The project developers developed a prototype based on what we observed and analyzed.
