sanction their admissions to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (2019). The titles of their thesis are “Effect of
high protein diet on pancreatic β-cell regeneration and functioning in diabetic rats”, “Physiological aspects of
high fat diet induced metabolic stress in rats”, “Genetic analysis of phenological and yield related traits in bread
wheat under different environments.”, “Weeds of nutrition management for optimum growth, yield and fruit
quality of citrus grown under drip irrigation system”, “Tailoring and solar photocatalytic application of intrinsic,
doped and composite nano metal oxides”, “Combining ability effects of yield and salinity tolerance related traits
in Brassica napus L.”, “Breeding potential of okra leaf Bt cotton resistant to bollworms and sucking insects.”,
“Mutagenesis for hyper production of streptokinase from Streptococcus equisimilis and comparative sequence
analysis of SK gene”, “Impact of postharvest drying and storage technologies on quality of seeds” respectively.
Now the PhD club swells up to 1768.
SITUATION VACANT
Applications are invited on plain paper alongwith attested copies of academic certificates for one MS/MPhil
student of NIFSAT @ 20,000/- pm for HEC funded project titled “Impact of Pathogenic Bacteria and their
Seasonal Influence on Safety Status of Ready to Eat (RTE) Foods in Punjab” in the National Institute of Food
Science and Technology. Applciations should reach in the office of Prof. Dr.Tahir Zahoor, PI within 7 days after
the publication of this notice during office hours. Incomplete applications or received after due date will not be
entertained.
EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS OUT OF BENEVOLENT FUND PART-I
Applications on the prescribed forms, available from the Registrar’s Office (Personnel Section) are invited for
the award of Educational Scholarships out of Benevolent Fund Part-I to the children of Serving, Invalid and
Deceased University Employees (BPS-16 and above) provided that:- (i) In case of serving University
Employees, Scholarships will be admissible for one child for post-matric classes. (ii) In case of death or
invalidation during service and if death occurs within 15 years after retirement, Scholarship will be admissible
for not more than 3 children. (iii) The children of University Employees who have been awarded punishment by
the Disciplinary Committees, would not be eligible for Educational Scholarships out of Benevolent Fund. (iv)
The adopted sons/dauthters who fall in the definition of family, will be eligible to the grant of Educational
Scholarship but that will be confined to only one adopted child of each family. (v) The University teachers who
were directly appointed on TTS shall not be eligibel for educational scholarships. (vi) The children of inservice
University employees who are working in research projects/development project/DPL/ on per lecture basis etc
are not eligible for grant of educational Scholarship out of Benevolent Fund Part-I. The applications complete in
all respects must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office (Personnel Section) within the period from 20-02-2019
to 19-03-2019 during office hours either by post or in person.
FRAMEWORK CONTRACT FOR PROCUREMENT
On the recommendations of the committee constituted for the purpose, the University, after following the
prescribed procedure, has made subject framework contract with M/s Sharif Sons Tent Party Decorators for
food items, catering, and tentage etc and M/s New Shine Traders, Faisalabad for flex banners duly effective

upto 31st December, 2019. The copy of the Framework Contract is available with the Registrar, Treasurer,
Controller of Examinations, Director ITRCDB, Resident Auditor, Accounts Officer (Pre-Audit & Disbursement
Section) for information with the request that faculty member(s) may place the supply order(s) for respective
purchase(s) directly to the firm(s) concerned
as and when required under intimation to DPIC
office. The Treasurer Office is also requested
not to entertain any claim, violating the above
said framework contract.

PhD THESIS/SYNOPSIS DEFENCE
1. Muhammad Awais Farooq, Regd. No. 2009-ag-2492,
PhD student Department of Plant Breeding and
Genetics will defend his PhD thesis on 26-03-2019 at
11:00 am in DLC-2, Faculty of Agriculture, UAF. The
title of his thesis is “The potential of breeding
Gossypium hirsutum L. for salinity tolerance”. In this
connection all the faculty members and PhD students
are invited to attend the thesis defense.
2. Mr. Muhammad Hassan, Regd. No. 2014-ag-1093,
student of PhD Biotechnology at CABB has
successfully defended his PhD synopsis entitled
“Molecular recombination and infectivity analysis of
multiple begomoviruses and associated satellites
infecting Radish in Southern Punjab” as required
under the rules on 05-03-2019 at 10:00 am in the
CABB’s seminar room. The faculty member and
students attended the synopsis defense and
suggested some experiments with modifications. It
was suggested that research title can be further improved with modifications. His new title was suggested
as, “Molecular recombination and infectivity analysis of begomoviruses and associated satellites in
Radish”. The supervisory committee considered it as more appropriate title compared to previous one and
recommended it for approval.
3. Miss Zubera Naseem, Regd. No. 2008-ag-803, PhD Chemistry student of the Department of Chemistry
has successfully defended her thesis entitled “Synthesis and application of deep eutectic solvents for the
extraction of natural Products” as required under the rules on 28-02-2019.
4. Mr. Abid Rashid, Regd. No. 2015-ag-2064, PhD scholar, Department of Clinical Medicine and Surgery has
successfully defended his thesis entitled “Clinico-epidemiological observations and therapeutic targeting of
multidrug resistant Staphylocuccus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in burn patients” on
05-03-2019.
5. Tayyaba Samreen, Regd. No. 2007-ag-1956, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental
Sciences has successfully defended her thesis in a seminar at the University level on Tuesday 05-03-2019.
The title of her thesis is “Effectiveness of organically-complexed bioaugmented boron coated DAP on
growth, yield and oil content of Brassica”.
6. Miss Hafsa Zafar, Regd. No. 2001-ag-984, PhD Soil Science student of the Institute of Soil and
Environmental Sciences has successfully defended her PhD synopsis in a seminar at University level on
07-03-2019. The committee has suggested some minor changes in the title. Now the title of his PhD
synopsis is “Role of N-inhibitors to manage nitrogen transformations under salt stress conditions”.

AUCTION NOTICE
About 600 Kg Raddi of old Newspapers will be auctioned on 19-03-2019 at
10:00 am in the Department of PRP. All interested are welcome to bid. One
third amount of the bid will be received at the spot while the balance will be
received after the approval of competent authority. The competent authority
has the right to accept or reject the bid. Advance income tax @ 10% for filer
and 15% for non filer will be collected from successful bidder and deposited
in the Govt. Treasury.
