p. 107, fig. 3-30, caption, 2nd & 3rd lines: EF-Tu corrected to Hsp70; protein now plural

p. 214, fig 6-18, caption, 2nd column, 4th to last line: comma inserted between Ser195 and
in orange

p. 392, 2nd column, 3rd line: activity deleted; replaced with transport, which ends the
sentence

p. 447, box 12-2, fig. 5: 433 nm corrected to 380 nm

p. 529, 2nd line of text: glycolitic corrected to glycolytic

Another sentence added at the end of the brief answers runs as follows: Polynucleotide
phosphorylase forms phosphodiester bonds, but differs in all other listed properties.

p. 43, end of chapter problem 12: labels for figures (b) and (c) have been transposed. The
label for (b) is now Methionine enkephalin, the brain’s own opiate; the label for (c) is
Phosphotidylcholine, a component of many membranes

p. 89, column 2: the final two sentences of the 1st full paragraph now read The addition
of certain salts in the right amount can selectively precipitate some proteins, while
others remain in solution. Ammonium sulfate ((NH2) 2SO4) is particularly effective,
and often used to salt out proteins.

p. 97, fig. 3-24: fifth element of A chain corrected from Gln to Glu

p. 99, fig. 3-26: label acetylation by iodoacetate corrected to carboxymethylation by


iodoacetate
